...I see the $60 worth of classic AD&D books in my "Library" that I can no longer download, and it makes me want to cock-punch WOTC.

Yeah, though certainly could be worse - I know at least a couple folks who spent into the hundreds of dollars.
I do think I archived them somewhere too. Maybe I'll go hard drive spelunking!

When were old D&D Pdfs available to buy?
I remember the early 4e stuff was available for a little while...

I think WotC's pulled all of their pdf content.
Someone at Hasbro discovered there's piracy.

I think WotC's pulled all of their pdf content. Someone at Hasbro discovered there's piracy. And we all know how this always works out. Like the comics industry, no PDFs no piracy... right?

When were old D&D Pdfs available to buy? I remember the early 4e stuff was available for a little while... Nine years ago or so. I can't say for sure when they were all pulled, because I stopped paying attention for a good long while, but there ya go. I spent a decent amount on AD&D 2nd edition campaign setting stuff (Dark Sun, Spelljammer, Ravenloft and Planescape) and can't get to them anymore. My main consolation is reminding myself that they were pretty bad scans for most of the products.

Yeah, it's pretty cock-punch worthy, IMO. Looks like April 2009 they pulled everything. I didn't realize until sometime in 2011, when I couldn't find my downloads and tried to regrab 'em, and couldn't. It was mostly the old, ooooold stuff (white books) that I wanted, books I had never had a physical copy of:

Everyone should be reminded of this every time they pay for any electronic product from WotC. It's like the Character Builder that they abandoned.
They do not know how to run a business in the age of the internet.
Have you ever tried to contact them about it?

Had WotC continued to sell pdf files of old games I would have gladly purchased them. I had previously done so when they were available form rpgnow and other sources. But since Habro/WotC no longer want to make money off electronic versions of the old product, they decided to throw the baby out with the bathwater, blaming piracy. So, loyal D&D fans like myself have looked to less reputable sources for a little nostalgia. As of last night I have pdfs of most everything that TSR/WotC released from Chainmail to 3.5 and all in between (see my post in General today). The lesson here is when you pull all legal methods of obtaining something you leave your former fan/customer base with one alternative. That doesn't stop piracy, it encourages it. I need a bigger thumb drive now.

For a while they even had the stuff to download for free. There was a ton of old and new adventures (2e and 3e and 3.5e) I have it all somewhere... some of it I even read. Most of it I didn't though... just printed out what I wanted to use.
