kaitoujuliet asked me a really good question here which I think feeds into the topic I am suggesting, albeit from the topic kaitoujuliet originally proposed: Does system matter, to which I reply: GM = System matters. I'd qualify that with saying that the **CENSORED** as part of the Gestalt of GamePlay matters. The system as a pure RAW mechanic not so much . . . unless you let it (ie: do you regulate the rules or do you let the rules regulate you?)

What do you do to get rid of or push through writers block? I'm having a problem where I haven't been able to think of new shit to add to my game for over a month.

What I do is just start writing anything down. Just keep writing until you get back in track. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes or do to get to that point. If you have produced good writing in the past this will work. Trust that you will get there.

I agree. +1 to this ^^^ Also, a little trick from Hemingway I think I read in A Moveable Feast: After you have done your daily disciplined writing allotment, stop writing at a scene that excites you or a scene where you know what is going to happen next. This is harder to do than it looks because of the addictive power of writing. You're stopping on a high. But the obvious benefit is that you get right back on that horse and stay on routine. Once you're past the block, this should keep you away from it for some time.

A segment on using Google+ would be helpful. Some sub topics...
1 Roll20.net vs. Tabletop Forge. 2 PC/NPC images as game tokens 3 Preparing and using map images 4 How and where to find players

TOPIC: Favorite tweaks to existing game systems. Especially those that enable better role playing, or alternatively provide for more realistic (or other) feel to the game.
I'm personally interested in tweaks to SW (such as customizing benny giving, like having players give them to each other with the by-product of the DM getting one.... or maybe each time the DM uses a DM benny one, the affected player gets one in return to use later, etc.)
You've had some calls on changing AC in D&D to be a little more about soak, or having heavy armor affect your attack, for example.
Others?

When you are in your adventures are there topics that are off limits? What are those topics? As players and GM's do you decide before the adventure what is off limits?
I always discuss this before the adventure when there are new players in front of me. I cannot think if anything that is off limits for myself but there are things I never add to my adventures either as player or GM.
Are there things that you never add to an adventure?

This might make a good topic for the forums. I feel like this would be highly specific to individual groups, and I for one would be very curious how different groups handle it. --Pukka Tukka

If you have an idea for a topic that you'd like us to discuss, please post it. Are you having a problem around the table, we'd love to hear about it. I mostly run convention style games and found an interesting article strangemagic.robertsongames.com/2011/08/gm-merit-badges.htmlWhat do you think of putting up a plastic table sign with your GM Merit Badges to prepare or attract the right kinds of players to your game. What would yours look like? What is your GMing style? Do you think its a good idea to advertise how you run your games using this method? So, on.. and blah blah blah... Savage Worlds for the WIN!!!! How about an episode on influencing your players to be involved in your story? I recently started a Wild Talents game where I want it to be very driven by the players. It started out slow, but I think its picking up a bit now. There are a few people though who keep asking me questions that make me realize they don't understand that they are just as big of an influence on the story as I am. Things like "So what are you wanting us to do, make a super team? Or did you want us to just deal with our lives?" I have to keep reminding them "I want you to do what YOU want to do."

Players drive me nuts enough that once I gave them my son's one Thomas train and asked if they wanted me to lay tracks for them...

I give my players and Obsidian Portal credit for turning it around. As an example we are in a 4 week downtime period(damn holiday stuff!) so I took the opportunity to have one of the players kidnapped(talked to him first to make sure he was cool with it) and the OP page went nuts. The players even met yesterday(without me) to go over how they were going to handle it. I got a few text messages asking questions but otherwise they handled it all on their own. They are very much taking control now, it just took some time.

What do you do to get rid of or push through writers block? I'm having a problem where I haven't been able to think of new shit to add to my game for over a month. In the words of my daughter the author, "Just write, you may throw it away but just write." I keep an executive's journal with me at all times and I just write down whatever comes to mind about games in it. Then I'll go back over it to sift out what I like and what I don't. Sometimes if I'm trying to work on a particular game and it's not coming I'll shift gears and work on something else. Again, I may throw it away but just let whatever wants to come out come out. Cheers, JiB

This topic may have been touched on in previous episodes, but I think having a "How to save a game" series of discussions would be good. Talking specifically about how to tackle certain problems in games that could possibly destroy it. For example, how recover from handing out too much equipment that has resulted in the breaking of a game, or making one character way more powerful than all the other players.
BTW- The writing block suggestions worked. I just started writing, burned half of it, and kept the other half. And now I am clear on how to proceed. Thanks HJ gang. You are all the A to my B.
