"We will have embedded audio instead of block text for some of the NPC dialog. We will have the sounds of dripping water in a dank, dark crypt to add to the atmosphere. The GM will be able to choose different challenge ratings for an encounter to match the capabilities of the PCs. The players won't have to wait for the GM to flip around in a long module to find the information he needs when he needs it." I know when I gm I like to find sound effects or sometime background music. I don't expect they'll get Morgan Freeman to read the block text but it could be cool. And great for a pick-up game or one shot.

Posthuman Studios put out an Eclipse Phase adventure module called Continuity that had audio embedded in the PDF back in November, 2010. There were four or five audio snippets that the GM could play when the PCs interacted with the onboard computer. Still, having the ability to modify the CR of encounters right there on the PDF is pretty cool.

I didn't realize you could imbed audio in pdfs.
That's intriguing... I think I'll start experimenting.

I think you have to provide the .mp3 files along with the .pdf file you want to link them to. You make a folder that contains the .pdf document and a subfolder. This subfolder contains all the .mp3 files you want to link to. Then in the .pdf document you tell the link to find that particular subfolder and file.
The link my break depending on where the end user puts these documents and files, but it should just take a few clicks for them to fix the problem.
I embedded a few links on my second 2 Sides: 1 Epic entry. They took you to different YouTube videos for added inspiration.

So it's just a local hyper link? Less exciting... I really just like the idea of some audio help. I'll do really bad voices, but then sometimes I forget which kind of voice I made for an NPC even simple audio reference would be great.

I can totally see the value of having some audio in an adventure (and I've used it on more than one occasion).
I was just thinking one could embed media in a pdf.

The kickstarter is using ibook and possibly Epub.
I'm guessing because they can embbed the media in those formats.

I came across this conversation, so I hope you don't mind me commenting as the lead behind this Kickstarter project. We indeed chose iBook and ePub3 because both those formats support embedded audio as well as embedded HTML5/CSS/JavaScript interactivity. Let me know if you have any questions.
