Hello everyone! I'm Muddyboots. I use that name on several forums. Some would call me a Grognard. I've been playing (TT) RPGs since 1979. Yes, Carter was in office and TSR had a print issue with pages from the Monster Manual being inserted into a print run of the then new Dungeon Master's Guide. Most of that time I've been GM but I do play too. I've taught literally hundreds of people to play (A)D&D and coached dozens on GMing. As the hobby expanded, so did my game collection and my teaching portfolio. I've played and GMed several systems including GURPS,CoC,Chartmaster, Paranoia, and many others. In the real world, I work in fine arts and entertainment. I'm also a Mountaineering guide and I teach Primitive Living Skills/Survival. Really, I've had so much fun adventuring that I tried to do it in the real world. I've travelled all over the world for work and fun. I've met amazing people, done cool things and nearly died on several occasions.
I like ales, IPAs and Oxford comas.

When I was in England I had too many beers, and ended up in an Oxford coma.

At the risk of stating the obvious, my handle is Wordcraftian.
I've been listening to the show for three or four months now and am about to wrap up season eight. The archive deserves much more credit than the hosts of the show give it. Remember when bro rape used to be hilarious? It still is... but it used to be too. (RIP Mitch Hedberg).
A little bit about me. I am one of the rare breed that got into gaming through early 20th century literature. I read every story by H.P. Lovecraft I could get my hands on. I then discovered the wonderful world of podcasts and popped my audiocast cherry on the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast. There were a few references to the Call of Cthulhu RPG in that show, but I didn't even know what tabletop roleplaying was at the time, thus my brain had naught with which to connect that information and ignored it completely. I became obsessed with Lovecraft's mythos and continued to read and reread that gorgeous, over-adjectived, Victorian prose.
When my friend discovered my collection of Lovecraft's fiction at a party one drunken night, he asked me if I'd ever played Call of Cthulhu. I told him I'd read it. He then suggested I run a game... and lost me entirely.
"Game? What game? Call of Cthulhu is a short story."
"No," he said, "the roleplaying game."
"Like KotOR?" I asked... rather adorably if I recall correctly.
He laughed, then proceeded to change my world forever.
Since that fateful night, I decided to be a gamer and accept Cthulhu into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior; my free time has been devoted to little else since. I've yet to actually play a game of Call of Cthulhu, but running them has consistently scratched that itch I never knew I had. I am a Keeper. I have a knack for it. As it turns out, I also have a knack for proselytizing. Friends who'd never heard of roleplaying said they were interested in playing, some went out and bought dice that day! I thought: 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu is about to drop, I can't run decent horror for more than four Investigators, so why not start a second group in January? And that was the plan. A 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu group with green players who had yet to experience the classic tropes and delicious atmosphere of roleplaying horror. It was set... and then motherfucking Happy Jacks and their silver tongued shenanigans crashed the party.
Because of Happy Jack's dulcet tones, their superb sound quality wafting into my ears ten hours a night, and their habit of giving excellent gaming advice, I've been seduced into fooling around on my darling Call of Cthulhu with a different game. A thinner, younger game. Sexy in the streets... savage in the sheets. It's true, I've decided to introduce my friends to the hobby with a game that won't try to kill their characters for making progress. Thanks to Happy Jacks, I want to show them how fun gaming can be before I allow myself the pleasure of introducing them to the maniacal terror of it.
I've never played Savage Worlds, and I've never run anything but Call of Cthulhu, but I am currently working my way through the Deluxe Explorer's edition and finding myself less than dissappointed. The muse is hard at work and if I'm not deterred, my players may just find themselves rolling their first dice to escape a dungeon in the belly of Hyrule Castle. "Bennie if you can do it without a skill check."
I look forward to lurking and contributing to the conversation where I feel I can.
All the best,
Wordcraftian
tl;dr - Love the show. Call of Cthulhu Keeper. Just discovered Savage Worlds.

Apparently I forgot to post here.
Well, I'm Senstaku. If you want to know how to spell that, re-read as necessary.
I've been gaming since I was old enough to hold a game controller - I don't know if PC gaming or my old NES came first, but it was one of the two. I unfortunately didn't get into tabletop gaming until about five or six years ago, but since then have become quite obsessed with it. I've only recently manage to put together a regular play group and so far we've finished a Pathfinder campaign, the first "act" of a Shadowrun campaign, and have started into playing the Dragon Age RPG - we've got a long list of systems we all want to play as we go, but I'm looking forward to our 5e game that is being planned.
I've also experimented with playing over the internet with some interesting results. Fortunately my job is one where I have lots of free time in an empty office so I can be skyping on my phone while working and, so long as I don't light the office on fire, they generally don't care what I do.
My introduction to Happy Jacks was quite accidental; I was searching for Actual Play podcasts and started listening to the L5R game. The rest, as they say, is history.

I'm Nate Bob. I live in North Carolina and have been gaming since I was just twelve years old. My mom bought what she thought was a board game in a red box called 'Dungeons & Dragons'. It's been down hill from there. I just found this podcast in September and having been engorging the back log every moment I get. I'm up to season 7 episode 8. The doctors say that the tremors and eye twitches should stop.

Hi All!
OutsideOfTheAsylum (Jeremy) here. I've been listening to the podcast for a year now. I'm diving back into gaming in a big way after having been to 3 cons in 2014.
I have been gaming since high school in the early nineties, but since those games were few and far between, I'd say I've only put in a year's worth a steady gaming in my life. So my gaming outlook is still pretty young.
Call of Cthulhu has been my favorite RPG for a while now, but I've really been digging the narrative focus games such as Fiasco and PsiRun.
I live in Rock Island Illinois. Fortunate enough to have a few Jackers in the area who introduced me to the podcast at my return to gaming at XenoCon 2013 in Davenport, IA. Namely, Jimto, amongst others.
I'm still working on kicking some habits of Douchebaggery in gaming (trying to win, min/max)...but fortunately my background in Improv Comedy and Theater have given me a leg up and a thick skin.
My goal is to whore myself out to whatever group will have me. That's how this works, right?

Finally took the plunge and registered here. Listened through the show's backlog this past year and enjoyed my first ever live show last week. With any luck I'll catch another one today. Even if I have about zero interest in some of the topics covered by the podcast (such as DnD or beer) I'm definitely a fan. My own interest in RPGs is, at this point, almost exclusively centered around a Swedish hippie game called Svavelvinter ("Sulfur Winter", which harkens back to a classic RPG module which also became a novel many years later) which is based on a fantasy setting I've been immersed in since high school, or some 25 years at this point. I only have that much free time with work and family - and a dog. One reason, besides being a Happy Jack's fan-boy, for registering here is to look into this online gaming thing. I guess this community would be as good a place to start as any, right? With any luck I could try to run a game of Svavelvinter online for an international audience, at some point. I think the game and it's setting deserve attention outside of Sweden. (The Quick-Start rules have actually been translated into English.)
