beeronious Over at the forums at rpg.net there's a thread from the developers discussing the work on the next edition of Changeling: The Lost, should you be interested. I loved Changeling: The Dreaming too much for my own good. It was like a delicate crystal, too precious to touch, only hidden away and taken out from time to time to admire.

So I am new here and thought I would post on that. I started at ripe old age of 10 in 1988 playing Basic D&D and 1st Ed AD&D and was instantly hooked on the game. Being from Wisconsin, AD&D was the main incarnation of RPG's I played for years. The goal was a term coined on the podcast; collaborative storytelling. After a bumbling fumbling attempt at being a DM, I was pretty much the DM in junior high/high school for three different groups (no player overlap) for 2Ed AD&D throughout the early 1990's. When I graduated high school and went to college I was concerned with metal concerts (Manowar! Iron Maiden!, etc.) and running games and girls! I was introduced to White Wolf (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, etc.) as well as Shadowrun there. I also continued to run AD&D games and they went weekly or more often.
I had a small period of time of about a year from 2002-2003 where I didn't play since I got married, had to be a big kid and get a real job after graduating from college but was quickly introduced to a new gaming group that was enamored with whole d20 scene. About the same time I began collecting old D&D and AD&D stuff and checking out other systems. On the whole, I am completely happy running fantasy based systems regardless of the rules/mechanics stuff. I will PLAY any game in any system, but am uncomfortable running systems I don't know of. Especially if pop culture movies and themes are involved since my time is limited outside of work and I am kind of a noob in that area.
I also began assembling a large miniatures collection and always employ them in any game I run along with terrain, tiles, etc. all with the goal of enhancing player immersion. I have attended a couple of Gary Con's here and have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the old guard and playing with them (as well as having a few beers with them). I also have had the pleasure of introducing my daughters to the game and that time is special since sadly I went through a divorce. Now the kids love reading the literature I read as kid growing up, they have their own dice and minis and love playing too. I should add that I am in my 30's so you can get a perspective. Gaming is a fun and great hobby and I am fortunate to have multiple groups (just got involved in my first Roll20 online game) and can cater to multiple age groups. I like the community here and the information gleaned on the podcast (as well as beer recommendations of which I could add to.) Thanks for reading and I hope to contribute more as time allows!

I'm not new to the podcast, having consumed the entire backlog quite some time ago, but I just joined the forum. Who knows how active I'll be due to family, work, etc. I look forward to getting involved to whatever extent my schedule involves.

Hi all, figured I would actually get involved in the forums after hearing so much about the community and the people involved. I am currently consuming the backlog (teehee) at an alarming rate so I should be caught up soon. I snooped around and love everything I am seeing the community is positive and replies are thought out.
Hope to see more and get involved!

Hello, long time lurker and backlog consumer here.
Played some Swedish systems in the early- to mid 90s (Mutant, Drakar & Demoner, Western, Wasteland if any of those names mean anything to anyone) in addition to a little bit of Twilight 2k, Cyberpunk, Call of Cthulhu, and 2300AD. Gave up the hobby roughly 20 years ago but living vicariously through the podcast and forum.

Looks like it's closer to 1984 Mutant, with anthropomorphic animals and stuff? We played 1989 Mutant which was closer to cyberpunk 2020 than the original Mutant, and you could find stuff for it in the store!

Hello All, I’m prone to being verbose so I’ll try to avoid a dissertation... Why am I here?
I’ve wanted to hop on these boards long ago (when they were other boards) but time just never permitted. My life has become somewhat more under control now that I no longer work “all the hours” that my old job had me. I’ll even be going to GenCon for the first time this year! Something I’ve been saying “well, maybe next year…” for the last…um…. How old is GenCon again? I think I found Happy Jacks by way of FtB many many MANY years ago… like season 3 or 4 I want to say… but I’ve slept since then so who knows. Anyway I’m here now. I hope to even contribute letters to the podcast in time (dare to dream). RPG XP:
- I have been Role Playing and GMing since I was 8 and never looked back (that was 1981). At that point choices were “that red box” and not much else.
I don’t have the box anymore, but I still have the book… ah, good times! - Eventually I went to GURPS and played that through 3 editions, and still play it now.
- I’ve played many systems, far too many to list here, but GURPS was just the one that, once learned, was just easier to convert anything I wanted to do. Also, being more technical and crunch minded it just appealed to me on a fundamental level.
- Recently I’ve found Gumshoe as a good system for a lot of my players of today, the system is super light and easy to understand so for the new and more casual players it works well. It has been very effective at getting the RPG-curious into gaming.
Fun Facts:
- So I lived through the times when role-playing wasn’t cool (It is cool now right? Right!?!?!)
- I’ve consistently played since I started, having never had a dead year… though there were some really bleak ones.
- At one point I owned a copy of every GURPS book produced by SJG (including every edition). I’ve since broken that cycle of addiction, but kept a shelf-worth books that I just couldn’t part with
... - I worked in/for a gaming store for a while. It was an interesting and enlightening experience to be sure!
- I was once an avid Battletech player and still have about two regiments of mechs (about 80% or so are painted). Many are lead… BEWARE!!! I dropped out around the time of the clans because…. The clans…
- I enjoy props and building out physical/visual aids for players. One of my most recent ones was to build a scale haunted house for a Cthulhu game, complete with furniture. (My wife referred to it as “my doll house”)
- My wife is also a Role player, but only after we were dating and I “indoctrinated” her. She enjoys the lighter stuff, but I did get her to play GURPS Fantasy and she liked it.
- Our group is pretty balanced with a 40% XX Chromosome content. I think these days it is not as uncommon, but I’m from the times of yore were “sword fight” had more than one meaning!
Hey, you made it to the end! Thanks for reading and feeding my vanity! I hope it was at least enjoyable if not informative!

Hey everyone! I just recently got into the podcast thanks to a recommendation of a coworker. I've listened to episodes 1-20, then decided to catch up and just start listening from the beginning of the most recent season. I have to say that I've considerably improved my DMing with some of the things I've learned while listening to the podcast.
A bit about myself. I'm a junior Computer Science major at Ball State University in Indiana. I got into tabletop gaming my freshman year of college when a few friends of mine started a D&D 3.5 game and I wound up hooked. We started and stopped several different campaigns all within the span of my first two years of college, as our DM had a tendency to burn out on his own campaigns shortly after starting them.
Fast forward to now, and I've been running a D&D 3.5 game in my own setting for the past 4 months with a group meeting every Saturday for 3-4 hours. I'm also working on planning for a 5e campaign I'll be running for my apartment mates next year, and I'm also testing out Savage Worlds on my own on the recommendation of the same coworker who recommended the podcast.
