What do you think of third edition? While I like the new dice mechanic, I'm very disappointed in FFG with how they set up the boxset. £60 lighter, and the core rules only contained 3 of the 8 wizard colleges, 3 of the 8 priestly orders and they got rid of halflings as a PC race in favour of high elves. As a Warhammer nerd, I just couldn't bring myself to give FFG any more money. Given that I bought nearly all of the first & second edition books, you'd think it would take quite a lot to drive me away!

Have to agree with the product bloat and gouge...While I'm certainly a FFG fanboy (Descent, Arkham Horror, Talisman, WFRP, Star Wars, Dark Heresy) you can rack up a ridiculous bill trying to gather up their products. Still I have been playing WFRP now for 20 years and I still find the world so engaging and wide open. I bought the Core Box, Witches Song, and the new Enemy Within. I grew up running prepublished modules and still love to go back to them for an idea pool. But, having the dice mechanics and some core rules I find that I mainly just create my own scenarios. The ruleset that fans have created for use on Fantasy Grounds is really well done, and definitely gets away from having a table top covered with various cards. Its not the main system I play but I do enjoy some of the innovations FFG has developed.
The company will probably in all likelihood not do much more with the game and may just let the IP go back to Games Workshop, it apparently hasn't sold very well. Treating it like Talisman or any of their other expansion heavy titles was a mistake. It is interesting to see them run with what they learned with V3 in the creation of their Star Wars game. It could certainly become popular.
I don't know if you're interested in online gaming but it would be great to have you get in on one of the WFRP v3 one shots.
Cheers.

I've also been playing WFRP since 89/90. I was playing WFB when I came across the 1st edition rulebook. The fact you got absolutely everything you needed to run a game in one book was amazing at the time, and the career system put it head and shoulders above the rest. I switched to second edition when it came out and so was suitable excited when I read that FFG were bringing out third edition. I'd played Dark Heresy, so was really looking forward to the new WFRP. A big letdown to say the least.
I live in the UK, so the timing has to be right for an online game!
