You are exactly hitting the nail on the head.
I approach most things with a do-it-right-or-don't-do-it attitude.
That's why I'm thinking of stopping the stream.
I know that we need to have a designated person monitoring the chatroom during the show. It is a full-time job, and it's not something you can do while contributing to the conversation yourself.
We've tried to have people sort of take split duty, but it doesn't work out very well.

What about a once a month chat room focused show ? Let all know that in two weeks or the next show will be a chance for a "chat in". There does seem to be less of a reason to listen to the live stream if I know my participation won't contribute to the podcast...
But I still really enjoy the live interaction especially when there is some actual interaction.

On the character death.
Off Screen is the only issue that I really have with it. Depending on what was going on, there is every chance that I wouldn't have given any rolls to the PC. Take Stork's image right here in this thread. Skurge's defense of Gjallerbru. I wouldn't have done any rolls for that. Just allowed the PC to narrate it.
"All right Bob. Skurge is standing there, defending Gjallerbru. Tell me about his final scene."
And, it can be great to not have the actual death happen on screen also. You guys brought up Valdez and the Major's death in Aliens. Part of what makes it so powerful was that the actual death wasn't shown. Just the two of them, releasing the grenade, and then cut to Ripley et al, and them hearing the explosion.
