I'm new here and I love Shadowrun, specifically 2nd edition. Even though a lot of people have a hard time running the matrix and don't really understand foci or adepts, I absolutely love it. I started playing 2nd when I was in high school and at one time, had a group of 9 runners playing every friday night in my parents garage. I still play now, and even though its been over a decade, I have a few players still with me after all that time. I keep that system going when my group plays, and I explain away wi-fi as the characters and stretching their essence as they navigate the matrix. What is everyone else playing, and is anyone else excited about the recent kickstarter to build 2 new games?

I'm excited about the offline RPG one for sure. Shadowrun for the Genesis was my introduction to the game almost 20 years ago now. It was open world like a GTA and complex in system like a Bioware RPG, all way ahead of its time. The only avatar pic I've used on this site is one of the runners from that game(Winston Mars is my fave though)
While I can't say I love the system during 2nd, I do love the timeline. If you didn't know, there is a book called Shadowrun 2050 that uses the 4th ed rules, but uses all the tech from the year 2050. Cyberdecks, jacking in, and all that awesome stuff from those days.
I'm weary of the announcement of 5th Edition... seems to me with 4th getting such high praise, they should stick with it a little longer. It will be the shortest lived edition by 1/2 a decade I think.

I've invested so much time/$ with second edition(I literally have every 2nd edition book except adventures.) I know and understand 2nd so I won't be going anywhere else with it.

I loved 2nd, but I really have fun with the 20th Aniv ruleset. It's pretty fantastic. I just got back into it, and am unsure abouth the 5th edition, as 4th/20th is pretty set aready. ButI am interested in the ganger game they are coming out with. They have a few side games that look awesome.

I ran 2nd for years and years. Truthfully, I never looked at any other version. The only complaint I've ever had is with scatter and shrapnel, but I can't even remember my complaint - we've been house ruling it for ages.
I will admit, coordinating matrix play and physical world play in 2ndE takes a very prepared and resourceful GM.

I have only played 2nd and that was about 2 decades ago. Played a Troll Street Sam.
I liked the Genesis game, but I loved the Snes one. And the teaser at the end of it that there would a sequel has stuck with me all these years...so yeah I'm looking forward to the new offline rpg game.
I was interested in 4th, but I since I haven't dropped dough on it I have no problem at looking at 5th either.
These days I need a more rule lite games. I like rule heavy games, but it's harder to teach and I have players that wont read a book, but will play the game.
I have been thinking of looking into the Savage Worlds Cyberpunk game. I imagine I could add the Fantasy toolkit and whammo! Shadowrun, chummers.

The basics are simple in 4/20. Stat + Skill +/- modifier in d6's. Target number is always 5, and you need to pass a threshold of # of hits depending on difficulty of the task. Opposed rolls are the same. Like in all games, combat throws complications in, but even magic and the matrix follow similar lines.

I have never played 2nd ed. but, like Rickno7, I have played the Genesis game for years and have it on emulator on 3 different computers. Currently, I have been playing the Anniversary edition and love the system. Personally, I am not that big of a fan of the genre, but the system, to me is perfect. I wish they would produce a fantasy genre game using the same dice mechanics.

I have been thinking of looking into the Savage Worlds Cyberpunk game. I imagine I could add the Fantasy toolkit and whammo! Shadowrun, chummers. The Savage Worlds Cyberpunk rules is from Triple Ace, its the free part of their "Daring Tales of the Sprawl" series. The main thing to keep in mind with any "Daring Tales" is that it has some drastic changes to the rules to make player death almost unheard of. It does things like add infinite ammo, ignore any and all money, and alters the damage/soak rules. You could ignore this, but remember that most of the cyberpunk specific rules are balanced around this.

Hmm. Well there IS a Savage Worlds Cyberpunk book that is called "Savage Worlds Cyberpunk" so you could see my confusion if he meant Interface Zero.

There's a cyberpunk savage worlds book on kick starter right now. I personally don't plan on buying any new books/systems, but I'll play anything.
