I'll definitely be trying to watch. Maybe not because 5am, but we'll see. Now I'm thinking of tag-teaming a DW game. XD GO ON... Well, if you're going to make a DW game TPKish, this might be fun. Divide your players into two groups, say 2x2 and have one alternate on each side (one group with alternates works as well). If one of the players dies, the alternate gets some ig message (magical amulet starts blinking?) to come down and enters the game while the other player has time to make a new character while on the sidelines. If you're done with chargen as an alternate, you can co-GM maybe. Constant stream of cannon fodder into the meat grinder. But this is a bit offtopic, so I'll shut up now.

That's a pretty interesting idea guitarspider. And it could work, but there's one snag: Bonds. Bonds are a mix of roleplaying aids and mechanics all rolled into a neat little package. Every character sheet has 5 to 7 "fill in the blank" statements. Stuff like "X owes me their life, whether they admit it or not." "X is a friend to nature, and is therefore a friend to me." "I've something belonging to X in my pack and they don't know." and so on. When you make a DW character, you have to fill in at least one of your Bonds with another character's name. Because of that, you'd have to give everyone the option to rejigger their Bonds every time someone died and got replaced. Hmm...

Right, I forgot about bonds in DW. Guess it depends on the group if that's going to (significantly) slow the game down or not. Anyway, I'm not suggesting you use it this time around, it's just something that came to mind and I'd never thought about it before. I'm not quite sure how well it matches up with the "You're THE Bard" idea behind DW either. On another sidenote, tag-teaming should work really well for last-stand kind of scenarios or maybe D-Day kind battles... The alternates have that feeling of waiting to be thrown out to die, maybe there's the occasional cutaway to the alternates as they're comin closer to the battlefield/hide their valuables/etc. That would make for nice introductory scenes, a bit like DitV initiations. And the rest just hold on as hard as they can... If alternates sit out too long, you can still throw them into the game as "reinforcements" and then really start and try to kill people just as more people seemed to make it easier. I have to think about that a bit, there might be a really awesome session in there somewhere. Maybe an introduction session to a campaign.

Yeah I joke about TPK, but I certainly am hoping (and my other games with Hyve lead me to expect) for a great chance to utilize those "bonds" to create meaningful, interesting fiction. Not a tomb of horrors meat grinder (at least not until the last :20-30 min ). Spoilers! When Gimble in our DW game decided to sacrifice himself it was a very interesting moment because up until then we had created a wonderful relationship in just a few hours. I actually felt saddened by his choice and to have that level of connection with a character in a four hour con-game is rather amazing. It made me have a definite love for Dungeon World. But, to have a campaign with an "evil party" and a "good party" run by two GMs via G+ that weave in and out of each others worlds could be really something.

I like Bonds, but between Dungeon World, Monterhearts, and Apocalypse World, DW Bonds are actually my least favorite "character interaction" mechanic. They totally fit the tone and setting of the game though. Sex moves and petty backstabbing don't make sense when you're playing an "everyone work together fantasy adventure" type game. I just wish they did a little more.
String in Monsterhearts are fan-freaking-tastic. You spend them to power interactions with other characters, but also have to interact with characters to earn them. Often in a way that's going to come back and bite you in the ass. I love that cycle. Hx in Apocalypse World, while similar to Bonds in DW, have more fiction attached to their little statements. In my opinion, it's way easier to spin out an entire session's events, or even multiple sessions, from a single Hx set up in AW.

OK. I've made a G+ event in the Happy Jacks RPG Podcast Community. JackerCon 2013: DW: The Lost Temple-City of Xtylos Apologies to people who already to clicked to attend the old event. I figured it would be easier to find if it was in the HJ Community page.

Either that, or maxinstuff should choose the "Shifty Eyes" option as part of his look. Has anyone called the "barbarian" yet? As far as I know on the Druid and the Wizard have been claimed so far. You're more than welcom to the Barbarian, moonday.
