Trying to monitor any resource scarcity in game is a tricky tap dance. If I were to spend more than say :15 min of our 3 hour session on it my players would start to wander off mentally/physically/flamboyantly? The current Pathfinder band of chuckleheads have decided they don't want the entirety of their favorite recently adopted village to be rounded up by marauding slavers. So they have now pulled "A Moses!" (first time ever in 30 yrs of gaming have we used this term) and are now leading the people out of the desert. So now the resources required by 200+ refugees trying to stay alive in a harsh badlands landscape WILL BECOME THE GAME! But yeah to make it dramatic and not just an annoying accounting project is my current goal. We shall see come game time next Monday. They've already led the sad, huddled masses past a pack of trolls with zero casualties. Now with sunrise on the way and three days to get to the river the already starving/dehydrated people might start to drop...like sad, huddled flies. Nobody said being a hero was easy.

If you find something that really works (or doesn't) would ya mind posting it here? This topic became more interesting to me than I thought it would, probably because I don't have an answer for it. I wonder if those PF "caravan rules" from one of their AP's would have anything useful in it (at the very least for a PF game, if not things that could be applied more generally)
