I've only just started using Google Hangouts for gaming and I've fallen in love with the program and want to find more uses for it. So I've got an idea of some online brainstorming with fellow Jackers. See, all of my real life friends (all 4 of them) are all in the games I run. So, I really have no one to brainstorm game stuff with, and I've learned really quick that I need at least one other person to bounce ideas off of to get my stories to go anywhere with what I'm doing, otherwise I fail to think of certain things that the players will no doubt bring up and I panic, shut down and never run that game again.
As you can see, I need some help here.
So I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in a scheduled (weekly, bi weekly, monthly, whatever) brainstorming session where people who are planning/running games can come together and, if they're stuck with something in the game, they can discuss it with others for a few hours. I plan to run games in Google+ but I need to get some planned and made first, so I thought this would be a great way to start using these tools to my and others' advantage.

That's sounds interesting. I'd be down to try that out if the scheduling works out for me (Pacific time after 8pm on weekdays, or Thursday afternoons anytime). At any rate I'll write here to keep updated on the thread! I have the same issue where the people I want to bounce ideas off of also happen to be my players. :-)

Oh, I should put my schedule as well, huh? Lol. I'm Eastern time (Florida) and get out of work fairly early most days, unavailable Fridays. My best day would be Saturdays at anytime.

I'm down, I always use message boards for things like that but being able to actually talk about it may help. I'm not free on weekdays consistently but Saturdays are usually good for me.

I'm also good for weekdays afternoons (Pacific), since my work schedule is somewhat fluid around that time. Weekends are pretty bad (got the family stuff), but sometimes I can swing it, or my daughter can watch :-)
Yah, just slot something out there and people will (or won't) come! If it's a google event thingie that makes it easy (since it'll be time zoned for everyone).

These would really make a great podcast. I honestly was hoping to see the Argument Phase go in this direction. I plan on having the first ten episodes (we are on four now...) be "get to know the forum guests" and then really start to talk about our games and the directions they could go.

Well, if someone has the means to record it then I won't argue. It would be neat to be part of something that is put out for general consumption. I'll probably shoot for saturdays, I think. If you're part of the Happy Jack's community on Google+ you'll probably get an invite. I can't do the streaming thing, myself. My bandwidth is crap.

I wouldn't be able to commit to any kind of weekly schedule, but I might be able to hop on and join in the discussion if I'm available. Loves me some brainstormin', I does.

We'll see! This could be fun. I try to game on Saturdays and also want to start stealing D.T. Pints idea and make a fancast of a fancast, but we'll see how it goes. I am also in Florida so at least our timezones sync.

Much like the discussion of a "shared world" I think a "shared fancast" could be a lot of fun. Because as I'm sure Stu Venable would tell you having a podcast created every week is actually a surprising amount of work. The majority of it seems to come from just trying to coordinate schedules. So the idea of having various people hand it off and take "narrative control" DYSWIDT? helps the likelihood of this becoming a regular thing. Not to try to "assimilate" @liappleblossom's ideas into my hivepod. I just like the idea of the folks in this community getting together and sharing games/ideas/etc...I've now played in five Jackercon games this time around and they have all been really damn fun. Very creative, very engaging, no assholes. I will post another request for Argument Phase guests for this Saturday tonight. You east coasters will probably not be including Alaska in your brainstorming glory as I will be out getting salt water encrusted on my person during those hours...but I would certainly listen to it! Cheers! Curt. By the way I've just put up a new Argument Phase event for tomorrow. The Argument Phase Ep. 4

We'll see! Added you on G+. Been really sick the last month so I've been kinda absent from everything. Finally got the post up about the java chat game and would totally be down to join in on this as well.
