Unless I'm mistaken, Chaosium said on 4-16-14 that they'd ship 7th ed in late June or early July. They also said "once Orient Express is shipped we should know more." HotOE is scheduled to ship at the end of June.
On 4-28-14, which is not the end of June the last time I checked, they (Chaosium) revised the 7th ed ship date to Halloween 2014. And they were classy enough to place the blame on 2 artists being late with their artwork.
Even if that is true, the time for that information to come out is after the product ships, not before. Now they just sound like whiny bitches looking to place the blame anywhere but on themselves.
Also, this is another prime example of why Kickstarter says (but doesn't seem to enforce) you should not begin a 2nd Kickstarter until the 1st one is shipped and all orders are fulfilled.

Kickstarter doesn't enforce that rule, and probably never will.

They had no idea of what they were getting into with that first campaign, and it's clearly showing. But, since they once again have a line editor, communications have improved greatly!

I've really been wanting to try to run a COC game, but have been waiting for 7th. Is there ANY word on when this will EVER happen?

The print books still aren't available on Chaosium...I'm not as disappointed that I didnt get in on the Kickstarter, except for not getting the updates. Any word on shipping yet?
I've used the quickstart rules for 7th Ed., and the game doesn't play that much different than earlier editions. We've already adjusted how we were playing the things when failed investigate rolls would normally halt the narrative, so missing the pushed roll mechanic isn't that big of a deal.
Anyone else actually incorporate some of the newer rules? How'd it go?

And this right here is why I don't do kickstarters anymore.
Kickstarter encourages the worst possible project management behaviour.
> The fundraising is a blank cheque with no connection to the actual budget (otherwise it would close when it hit the target) > Scope creep is baked in to the system ("stretch goals") > The fundraisers don't have to put ANY skin in the game if they don't want to (which is why Kickstarter is the wild fucking west) > Backers get no return for the risk they take
It's a broken system.

I don't know how much you know of the history, but the "Chaosium" that took the kickstarter money is not the same Chaosium that is forfilling the project. The old guys couldn't deliver and Chaosium effectively got taken over, first by Stafford and Peterson (which to be honest, didn't fill me with confidence) and then as of GenCon, by Moon Design (who did the brilliant Guide to Glorantha kickstarter) Rick Meints, MOB and the gang I do have confidence in. But they checked over the PDFs before sending them to the Printers and discovered a major formatting error. They've spent the last couple of weeks re-laying out the InDesign files. They will deliver though. **Edit** and if go to kickstarter, you can read most of the updates there - they are not backer-only

I don't know how much you know of the history, but the "Chaosium" that took the kickstarter money is not the same Chaosium that is forfilling the project. I was just going to point that out. Chaosium was the subject of a hostile takeover by... Chaosium, heh. Largely, I think, because of the craptacular Kickstarter that CoC 7th turned into. first by Stafford and Peterson ... and then as of GenCon, by Moon Design My understanding is that Stafford and Peterson still run the company - they're the board of directors - with the Moon Design folks doing the day-to-day management and production work. Truth be told, I'm excited. CoC and RuneQuest have always been two of my favorite games, and now that they're both back under Chaosium? Effing rad, especially with Stafford and Peterson at the head (even if only as figureheads for historical value alone). I've been catching up on RuneQuest 6 (currently by Design Mechanism, but my understanding is that it's going to be the official Chaosium RQ base) because it will soon become my standard "fantasy" system. And CoC will again become my go-to "horror" system. Whee, good times ahead!

I must admit, I ran Rolemaster back in the day, but as a player, RuneQuest was our fantasy system of choice, back when we played fantasy. What am i saying, "when we played"? We still play our thirty year long Pendragon campaign (that system is a BRP derivative) and (for a few more sessions at least) Song of Ice and Fire. But I have a hankering for a return to RuneQuest (though not necessarily Glorantha)

But I have a hankering for a return to RuneQuest (though not necessarily Glorantha) No, Glorantha is kinda poo. I've never, I guess, understood that setting. But RQ is rad. My favorite edition is the Avalon Hill "3rd edition", but I'm digging on RQ6. And I love Pendragon, but I've never been able to play it. RQ is maybe one of the games I'm considering for a Jackercon or Strategicon event in the future. Maybe.

What do people think of Runequest 2 (legend)?

What do people think of Runequest 2 (legend)? Mongoose's stint with RuneQuest was not very popular. Die-hard RQ grognards were constantly throwing rage-gasm fits over what Mongoose was doing, especially with some of the mechanical choices they made in their original RuneQuest. RuneQuest II was better than Mongoose's original RuneQuest in almost every way (although the grognards rage-gasm'ed because RQII had already been published by Chaosium and Mongoose's RQII should have been RQV), but it included some very-easy-to-abuse combat maneuvers of which Tyler has previously spoken on the show (season... 8, I think?) Legend, of course, is Mongoose's RQII, published without any RQ identifying marks after they lost the license. While I have Legend, I have not read it so I don't know if they've fixed the combat maneuvers. When Mongoose lost the RQ license, it went to a new company called Design Mechanism, formed by the guy who wrote MRQII/Legend in the first place. That company published RuneQuest 6, which I'm currently reading. Last I heard, RQ6 is to be the basis for the RQ system that Chaosium plans to publish, now that they've got the RuneQuest ownership back. I can tell you that so far in what I'm reading, it looks like RQ6 has fixed the combat maneuvers and made some other cool advancements. I would probably recommend looking at RQ6 instead of Legend if you have an interest. Design Mechanism offers RuneQuest Essentials as a pay-what-you-want offering, which is pretty much the entire RQ6 system except it doesn't include 4 of th 6 magic systems and it doesn't include rules for non-human characters. But it'll give you everything you need to learn the system.
