So, I have been jonesing to play for many years, and I have finally just started to get back into roleplaying with my old group of friends, thanks in most part from this podcast!.
I am easing into the gaming with a 3.5 DnD with some pathfinder flavoring at the moment. I intend to start up a Shadowrun game with them when the gm needs a break.
And as ive been listening through the podcasts from S1E00 to last nights listening of S5E10, I am wondering where is the episode Tappy promised us on Shadowrun! Man i love this game. I am hoping Tappy, that you will add many a thread about this gaming system.
I just bought the 4.0 anniversary ed book, and am loving the changes. I found the podcast actually from looking for podcasts about shadowrun, and after finding about 4 or so, and listening to hours of actual game play and many one or two single info podcasts mainly just talking about the new 4.0 game in an of itself, i have found that there is so much i miss. I have sunk many hundred of bucks into the game 1.0, 2.0 3.0, so many supplements and adventures, I actually think i have most of the old supplements, INCLUDING many of the Cyberpunk game system books I used to use as flavoring. I also bought almost all, if not all of the paperback novels for shadowrun, including the 6 or 8 that came out for a short run a few years ago...great stuff!
Anyway, so Ive been thinking about running about 6 to 10 runs/gaming sessions for the group before I might try out this idea I heard on a few podcast ago, about a Zombie apocalypse in the Shadowrun Universe. Something close to the Resident Evil process, where one of the Corps (umbrella?) in a bioware lockdown cooked up some virus or weapon that got out and infected the whole complex and the team of shadowrunners we hired by an agent of the company to find out what happened.
The corp has already hired one other group and sent in two of their own units to get intel on the complex and not one has reported back. This would be a total UNDEAD mayhem game, constant action.
Now i couldnt put an insane internal AI running the complex as that is too much rippin off the movies, but how bout a master vampire as the head scientist or something, maybe the board of directors are all master vampires and this one facility is being let go to see if the virus cooked up is a way for them to wage war against rival corps or humanity in general, not sure.
Any ideas would be great on how to try a zombie apocalypse in shadowrun, and also, WHERE it should be located.
If i actually do something like this and if the contagion were to somehow get out, whether by the runners actions or my choosing, it would change the entire game world for future campaigns.
*edit - hows that*
