Hi. I´m playing in a D&D 3.5 game at the moment, but plan on running some one-shots, shouldn´t the whole game group be able to make it for a session. I would like to use these one-shots to try out other systems that keep showing up in my library. One of wich is D&D 5e.
Questions: - D&D 5e should work with (old)D&D, DCC RPG... modules, right? - Got any suggestions for a good module? One with more than just combat encounters? - Or do you know of any published (free or otherwise) D&D 5e one-shots?
Thx.

D&D5E is real easy to convert to as long as you have a good handle of the system. I've listened to the Actual Play during the playtest of The Mines of Madness which was included with the test packets and I've read parts of it, very fun, very deadly. (Possibility of a Purple Wurm appearing near the entrance if you've eaten too many burritos, or Drow food.)

Once i found a neat little module & i recieved my Monster Manual, i could swap the originals with the 5e counterpart, or something similar.

AS long as you ok with "reskinning" some creatures that will work great if you wanna put in the prep work to convert everything. With only one monster manual so far there's sure to be some missing evil doers but just use the closest analogue. Mines of Madness is already 5E as well as the other modules they released for the Playtest. I don't have much experience with too many single adventure modules, most of my pre-made experience comes from Adventure Paths.

(at)archmagezemoc: Yes, i´ll reskin or swap out when needed. I´ll check out Mines Of Madness & other 5e stuff as soon as i can. I just got a lot old D&D, DCC RPG modules and one-sheets around here. I should be able to find some inspiration there.

The older stuff works good too, even tho some of it is less balanced and killy this edition really has brought back player death, see Beholders lol. A lot of old school stuff would work good, and the items/loot from the modules fills the missing magic item rules nicely. I've just been flying by older editions as far as magic items go, until DMG anyway!

I guess i´ll rather go with a small campaign than a one-shot. Just so the players can get used to the new system. But it´ll have to wait. Our group is about to change a bit & i´m thinking about running some other "simpler" one-shots first. Preferably systems with german translations or rules-lite systems i would be able translate myself.
