I'm exactly the same. When I GM, I might have one to loosen up, but I like to stay sharp so that I can move the game along. Getting drinky makes me miss cues that people are bored or haven't had the spotlight in a while. When I play, I try to keep nice and steady with liquor. I'm only focused on my PC and the other PCs, so there's less need for sharpness and more need for looseness (if that's a word).

I'm not in favor of getting drinky when I'm gaming either. I like having a drink (types vary) but I want to stay focused on the game and what's going on in the game.

JiB I am in agreement here with jazzisblues. At a game where all a player has to do is roll dice, this would only be a factor when stats are created at character generation. However, whether it is a mind altering "drink"/substance or a game of Angry Birds, these distractions (including unbathed funk) have no business at the game I wish to play - and certainly not at my table where I GM. It has led to a lot of wasted time in my experience.
