The Plan – Games on Demand

I have been trying to promote this model for a couple of cons now and have gotten a much better feel for what is required and what I need to invest in order to make this a viable game plan. This kind of attraction is a massive departure from the somewhat regimented nature of our regular RPG schedule. As such I have to think outside the box and find out what works and what doesn’t.
This is what I have come up with.
1) Space: Games on Demand needs its own space. I was hoping to be able to use the same space I have and set aside some space in Open Gaming, but that will not do. Open Gaming needs to be exactly that “open” and coopting space from there adds a level of chaos that simply will not do. I have been granted some space upstairs and I plan to make the most of it. So let’s just say that GoD will be in San Lorenzo F from now on. I will have 5 tables available there for GoD Saturday and Sunday of every con.
2) Signage: Since this is a sort of on the fly type of thing having constant information up is the key to success. There will be signage at RPG’s downstairs directing people up to San Lorenzo F. I am not going to use up too much space down there since I want to get people used to heading upstairs for GoD.
Outside the GoD room there will be a large sign and a magnetic white board that will read Games On Demand. Sheets for the available games will be attached to the magnetic/cork board. There will be a number of sheets for each game equal to the max number of chairs in the game plus one.
3) Procedure: The GM will list all the games they can run on their sheet, someone interested in those games will pull a sheet and that will be their “ticket” for the game and walk over to the table where the GM will be waiting. The last sheet will be an announcement that the game is full. The GM will take that last sheet, fill out their players name and badge numbers and run their game and return the sheet to HQ downstairs when the game is finished. I will be requiring a list of games each GM plans on running for GoD and have the sheets prepared ahead of time along with some blank sheets to run on the fly games. The sheets will not go up until the GM comes and gets them from me at the RPG HQ.
I am interested in any ideas or comments about this plan of action and am open to ideas.
P.S. I have arranged for the RPG library to be coordinated with the regular games library. As of next con RPG games will be available to borrow from the Games Library along with all them board games.
Thanks!
