My family and I are moving to Salem, MA at the end of July 2015. I've spent the last 12 years in a veritable black hole of gaming in northern central Maryland and I'm hoping to get a IRL game going. Is there anyone in the region who'd be interested, say... Mid August?

Hiya Houndin, I haven't lived there for decades, but I grew up in Salem -- it's a great city. Always had a vibrant and active gaming community, unless things for some reason died after the mid-'90s (I suspect not). The local gaming hub is probably Harrison's Comic Shop, which is (was?) a super-geek-friendly store. New England as a whole has quite a few local gaming cons-- the two I remember most fondly that are still around are TotalCon and Connecticon. I'm excited for you and a little jealous lol. I still miss living so close to the ocean most days. Happy to answer any questions I can.

I live in that general area, well, about an hour or 2 south-west maybe. If I end up moving back into a closer area, like Lowell or something, I'd be glad to game if we got a space.
On an unrelated note the Salem FleaMarket is open on weekends till 4pm, that place is weird but fun.

I know it's hard to find a group in MD, but to call it a black hole is a bit less than charitable. Regardless, good luck finding gaming in Salem.

Xer0 I currently live roughly 13 miles north of Westminster, MD. Over the last 12 years the only games I have been able to find are Pathfinder and at least an hour from me.

I'm sorry, I take back everything I just said. Looking at the WPN Store/Event finder, there's a huge hole surrounding Westminster. Looks like the nearest stores to you are in Hanover or Cockesyville, both about 20 miles away.

I am just a little North of you here in Exeter New Hampshire. We should plan a meetup one day. I would love to get a local group going. You can pm me. That sounds awesome Ambassador Dayson Brillet Exeter is only about an hour north of where I'll be. I'll PM you when I get settled.

Well, we're here, but not settled. It was a horrendous move, and I have to go back on 8/22 to pick up all the crap we couldn't fit on the trucks. FUN TIMES! I have found most of my gaming stuff. Though I seem to be missing my 5e PHB right now. Do you have G+ account Ambassador Dayson Brillet? it's probably easier to coordinate anything via email and/or hangouts than the forum.

So, Still looking for a group. I spoke to the manager of Harrisson's, which is only a 5 minute skate ride from my house. Their RPG book selection is pathetically thin. D&D 5e, and Pathfinder is all they carry, and not even the core book for PF. Gaming wise, they do encounters on Thursdays, but start before I get home from my work in Boston. Every other Saturday is Pathfinder day, but that's just not my cup of tea. Other than that I haven't found many people on ENworld's gamer search or Pen & Paper online. It saddens me to think that there are so many awesome people here, and so few gamers. Maybe I need to sit outside Flying Saucer Pizza reading an RPG book or something.
I did see two guys getting on my train in the morning, who on separate days were wearing the red D&D ampersand shirt that WootBox gave away. Maybe I should just try talking to either of them.

I did reach out to some of my old, old crew from Salem... but turned out they had each, over the years, moved out of Massachusetts, so no luck there. Hope you're having some luck, guys! And Houndin... I hope you're faring your first October in Salem well. (Depends on what part of the city you live in, of course, but the traffic problems at least tend to affect everybody. For a month).
