Hi, I was listening to a different podcast [GASP!]. There was an interview with Shawn Carman. I have been wanting to get L5R for a very long time and the interview prompted me to look for the core rules. The 4th Ed core book is not in their online store and it's listed as out of print elsewhere. Any news you have would be helpful. Thanks!

DriveThruRPG has all the books in PDF, if you don't mind not having a dead tree version of the game.

It's possible that they are out of stock currently, and contemplating a reprint. If so, your best bet is to try to find a game store or online retailer, or as mentioned, DriveThruRPG.

I actually hit up a bunch of used book franchises and all of them didn't have any copies of L5R core anywhere in the US. I'm actually super hopeful for a reprint to come around the time the Atlas comes out.
Also, atlas hype

Did that print run just not hit normal distributors? My FLGS has been trying to get a copy for me for a while now

I don't know, I think it hit certain FLGS. I'll see if I can find the article on alderac's website.

Alliance has a history of pretending that AEG doesn't exist.

I have noticed that AEG have put some of the harder to find volumes up as Print on demand on Drive Thru/RPGNow. The Great Clans is available that way, as well as a couple others, so the core books may eventually go up as PODs.

Miniature market has some of the books including the core available.

I asked Shawn Carman about this. He said that they had reprinted it back in January and it was a large print run. So, I don't know if they will reprint it again anytime soon.

I never heard which version of the game was being played in the Inukai campaign so I just wandered around eBay for a bit to see what I could find. The 4th edition books are available for a few hundred dollars but the 3rd edition books are available, as a set, for $40. I looked over the rules and compared the two and there's very little difference. I bought the 3rd edition and spent the savings on Wild Talents, Fate, Savage Worlds and still had money left over for the needed junk food.

There are significant differences, and all of them make 4th better.
