I don't understand. There's a picture of a dude and a description of him with a shitload of flaws. Then it says to imagine that character as a girl. And we're sexist because we imagine the dude as a girl because it tells us to do so?

It was a comment to Aslyns point about having only strong female characters.

When people talk about the Bechdel test it is mostly infering that there is to few 'strong female characters' but what they don't understand is that if you make a character male no one care if he is strong or week.
For example; how many bbg are male, how many corrupt NPC's are male, how many comic relief NPC's are male, how many bandits the PC's kill in random encounters are male.
The reason for that is that no one gives a damn if a male character is flawed and inept.

Mm. I don't think the image you posted supports your above premise. But this is an issue in which I normally don't get involved, so I'll just quietly back out of the thread now.

It sorta does, though it may not be articulating it as well as could be.
Let's try a better example. Take a certain reviewer/activist who shall not be named (lest in their googling find their way here)... They focus on one scene in a video game where you kill a woman and scream misogyny; completely ignoring the other 99.9% of the game where you are killing men.
Or take Gaston from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. He's a pretty loathsome individual. I think we can mostly agree on that, right? There are no cries of misandry over him. However, if the varying character's genders had been reversed, and Gaston a woman, there would be a segment of people out there decrying that choice, right or wrong.

On Gaston, A certain book I shall not name addresses and refutes your claim. Google "Gaston" "misandric". I am sure if the roles had been reversed the writers of this book I shall not name would decry the choice.

The thing about the "Galbrush" example is that there are SO many male characters of all types that any given male character is not, as a rule, taken to be a statement about men in general. Female characters, especially female lead characters, are much rarer, so they're scrutinized more carefully; that's just the way it is, and it isn't likely to change soon. (Someday, maybe!)
That said, I think a female version of Guybrush has the potential to be awesome, if the creators could make me feel sure that they weren't saying all women are incompetent.

Just give her a competent, confident rival. This is a trope that has been used extensively with the incompetent, awkward male.

*nods*
Much like no one with a working brain takes Gaston as typifying all men, no one (again with that viable organ) plays GTA and assumes that all women are prostitutes, or Hitman and presumes all women are strippers, nor Bayoneta (sp?) and assumes that all women are bad-ass assassins.
You are right, they are being scrutinized more than their male counterparts, but they're being scrutinized by people with agendas (and that applies to both sides).

I will admit, I don't get this, does it count if two women are talking about a man they are planning on assassinating?

One would, of course, have to go to the source for that answer, but strictly interpreting the criteria (with an admittedly literal interpretation). It would not pass.
