... coming soon! New logo, new edition. Which is a little reminiscent of the old Lego Space logo.

No dates? Prices? Preorder opportunities? My chubby is starting to subside.... I was JUST thinking about which splat to get first. I just have the core rules and spinward marches book. If a second ed. is coming though I'll probably wait for that

I prefer mongoose's current Traveller logotype, but the less error-riddle edition of the best Traveller rule set ever would be good.

They've not said much at all - it may just be new art which means it'll be their 3rd Edition (there are two versions already, one with crappy art and one with good art). Maybe, just maybe, it might be similar to the old GDW MegaTraveller - rules consolidation and canon meta plot advances. Aaron

This is my reading of an older thread where this is flagged as part of their future plans. Saying they would revise the format, and bring content from books like mercenary and central supply catalogue into core. Sounds a lot more like a "deluxe" edition rather than a 2.0 Which I would have absolutely no problem with. I'd LOVE a version of the core book where the editor knew how to calculate percentages.

Does anyone know who holds the IP for Traveller? If it's Marc Miller, I'm kind of surprised he'd license it with his own version out there (not that it's worth buying, mind you).

Mongoose has a fixed term (and obviously non-exclusive) licence. I think it was for ten years. I think they have 4 or 5 years more. It's great because people are already bitching that this isn't long enough to produce "enough" material for a 2nd ed. Marc probably spent all the money so had to put out T5 before the Mongoose line died? Personally I think it would make a lot more business sense to repackage classic traveller properly. He might make some sales :/

Has anyone else been following this on the Mongoose forums? Apparently a certain "something" will drop this Friday. Looks like it going to be a revised core rule book and the release of RPG Suite - if I had to guess. This: www.rpgsuite.com/Someone teasingly said that the next 24 months would be "exiting times" for Traveller players.

Someone teasingly said that the next 24 months would be "exiting times" for Traveller players. You mean it's going to be so bad that people are going to stop playing Traveller?

Ok so now the mongoose forums have an entire section for "Traveller Playtest".
Ugh.... *slowly backs away*

I understand that this has previously been a big 'no, no' in terms of the licence because [insert ridiculous legal reason] . . . Aaron
