I've been slightly remiss. I blame the holidays and a heavy workload for my lateness, but there's another Gamicon happening at the tail end of February. Gamicon Manganese (#25) will be at the same hotel as last year. Any other Happy Jackers planning to attend? As I said, I've been busy. I'm running the Grindhouse again, of course, but didn't have any inspirations strike me for new stuff. I'll be running my Dread: Terror in Paradise game again though, so it's another chance for those who missed out on that action last year. How 'bout you??

Skipping this one. Not a fan of the Sheraton. Last year if you were in the main gaming room it was damn near impossible to hear anything. Derek and I went over and could barely hear what was going on at our table. We sat next to each other and often had to ask the other to repeat themselves.
We ran into a few rude vendors as well. Since the vendors were in the same room as the gaming, trying to talk to them was an exercise in frustration. I think they were desperate for sales at that point so were kind of pushy, trying to get to the money exchange before actually doing any customer service. A few of the vendors just ignored us entirely.
If they address the noise level and all the issues it brings, I'll be back next year.
EDIT: I asked Gamicon about this again. They are taking some steps to alleviate these issues.
- Saturday's PFS has been moved offsite - They are using smaller round tables rather than the gigantic ones for last year - There will be rectangular tables for boardgames
This is important as the main room was pretty well packed last year. I don't know if it will help, but they deserve praise for recognizing the issue and trying to fix it. Hope it works out for them!

I'll be there again, this time running with Corridor Games on Demand. I'm running Swords Without Master on Saturday and I'll around all weekend to run a variety of things. If anyone is interested, check out the Indie Grab Bags at 7PM Friday and 4PM Saturday. All the Corridor GMs will pitch games, and you pick! See you there, uselesstriviaman!

I didn't notice that the tables were smaller, but looking back on it, I found it a lot easier to navigate so perhaps they were a bit smaller. The rectangular tables were in there and they worked well for some of the board games. They were too small for something like Munchkin Quest, but a lot of other games worked just fine. I've had trouble hearing games at the Sheridan and the IMU so I don't think I can offer much opinion on that. uselesstriviaman got a side room for his Dread game again so that worked out well for him. Except he didn't have anyone sitting behind him to allow him to break wind and blame on. I assume he would consider the location worth that sacrifice. I read they had some rooms rented I think near the pool for smaller games but I never got up in that area to check it out.

Dude, you heard that?!! I'd say the Gamicon/Sheraton thing is still a work in progress. I do think there was more elbow room, but the main hall was filled to the gills with people. I wasn't in there on Saturday at all (again), but Friday evening there were few tables to spare. The complaints I heard at the con were primarily from the (large) Pathfinder Society contingent. Friday and Sunday they were in the main hall with everyone else, but for Saturday's games they were moved to a different building half a block away. This was apparently not very well advertised to the PFS players. For myself, I had a blast. This year I only ran two games (Grindhouse and Dread) on Saturday, so I could play games on Friday and Sunday. I think I scored a convention bingo - I got in an RPG, a couple of board games, a miniatures game, a card game, AND some kickass old-school video games. Plus, I introduced my ten-year-old son to Gamicon. I think he's gonna want to come back next year.
