Aftermath! Definitely high crunch. Phoenix Command may edge that out, but I'm not sure if I ever actually played it.

Runequest. I didn't play that one. I remember seeing it and thinking, hmmmmmm during one of my trips to the compleat strategist in NY(ah, the hours spent there). What made it so crunchy?

For me, it had to be Palladium. I mean just dang. We had stuff scattered throughout eight different books, and if we were starting a new game (which happened pretty regularly) we'd kill an entire evening rolling up new PCs.

I can't believe the topic made it this far without asking how someone was gaming back in 1927...

Okay, that was good sirguido. Took a few seconds to figure that one out. I was thinking, what is he on about. Next time I will watch which random keys I am using. One of the longest character gen systems I did was for space opera. It was similar to traveller in that you had a pre-game career with beaches, specialty, enlistment rolls, and the such. Instead of rolling skills on a table you would earn points to spend on skills. It sort of lent it self to being abused some, but over all it was sort of fun. It would take hours to do right.
