I'm about to start a new campaign. Has anyone any tips, identified any problems in running CoC 7ed?
I've run 3rd and 5th editions in the past, but this looks to be the biggest system delta of all.

One thing I don't like is the damage for particularly successful attacks.
This includes melee. Extreme successes (achieving a fifth of the target) can't be countered by the defender who is fighting back.
or The defender can't use dodge against firearms (unless there is cover).
This feels like the game has just become significantly more deadly. Further I don't like the fact that one roll determines the result of the attack and the damage (in the case of the first example) and there is nothing the defender can do, (i.e. no dodge/save).
I'm minded to house rule extreme success: 1) Critical beats Extreme success. So a defender can overcome the attack. (This might be implied, I'm making it explicit). 2) For blunt weapons damage is rolled twice the the higher applied. (Like damage as an advantage/bonus dice). 3) For impale damage is rolled twice add the total applied.
