These 4 New Knife Themed Edges are designed to represent a variety of common cinematic knife themed martial arts and give the knife some benefit comparable to unarmed martial arts and throw the second weakest weapon a bone.
Knives got utility now.
Knife Fighter (Novice Combat Edge: Fighting d6, Agility d6, Throwing d6)
You deal more damage with a knife, your damage with a knife increases by a bonus of +2 due to your precision and years of practice
Knife Thrower (Novice Combat Edge: Agility d6 Fighting d6, Throwing d6)
Your range with a Thrown Knife increases to 12/24/48. You have trained in the art of Hollywood knife throwing and achieved pistol range.
Knife Nut (Seasoned Combat Edge: Knife Fighter, Knife Thrower, Agility d8, Fighting d8, Throwing d8)
You are trained in the art of bypassing the gaps in armor with a knife, you gain AP2 on attacks made with a knife.
Knife Expert (Veteran Combat Edge: Knife Fighter, Knife Thrower, Knife Nut, Agility d8, Fighting d8 Throwing d8)
You gain a +2 bonus on fighting and throwing rolls made to attack with knives
some of these edges might appear imbalanced. but i felt they were fine if they were restricted to knives. and i'm not normally one for restricting weapon choices, except when it comes to improving an inferior weapon. most unarmed combatants can already outpace a knife wielder by the time they become seasoned. so i needed to come up with something to keep the knife as an appealing weapon. so i came up with options that focus on its versatility rather than outright boosting its base damage. by making it the equivalent of a bow range throwing weapon that deals slightly less damage than punching somebody or swinging a katana but compensates in accuracy. well, it makes a knife more competitive against modern military grade weaponry like the AK-47, Barrett or Desert Eagle.
the attribute requirements were kept low so characters could afford other edges that could be of use by lower attribute and skill needs. because melee fighters need a mountain of edges and stats to be effective, and a knife fighter already needs more, in addition to now needing throwing as well.
