Just finished Blood Rites (Dresden Files #6) and am thankful for the friends who insisted that I continue reading past Storm Front and Fool Moon, both of which I found execrable. Butcher's hand continues to grow more steady and confident, with the hardboiled aspects meshing nicely with the opposing factions' presence.

Yeah. I've listened to all of his books multiple times, but the first two I generally skip unless I'm feeling super nostalgic.

Which? I think I have the full cast recording on deck, but I've been holding off on listening to it pending the new series.

I'm reading a Clive Barker collection and damn there's lots of great one shot ideas in his work.
The current story is "The Body Politic" where a mans hands instigate a revolution and set themselves free...
Great read for horror inspiration.

Just finished Terms of Enlistment bk 1. Glad I listened to the audiobook, because I'm not sure I would have read thru the whole thing. The reveal at the end was predictable, but that doesn't make it bad.
Thinking about doing Black Sun Rising on audio, been a while since I read that one.

I'm not sure what pushed him over the edge and made him dislike his own creation that much, but it was definitely a poor end to the Hellraiser legacy.

I completely agree with your assumption: Barker must have hated both d'Amour and Pinhead to turn their final story into something so utterly banal. I can't even remember the twist that you're talking about, unless it was the 80 ft. elephant-in-the-room. Looks like this board doesn't have a SPOILER tag, so I'll leave off.

Just finished the sequel to We Are Legion (We Are Bob), titled For We Are Many. Released two days go. Third book is apparently due in two months, which I find astounding - and gratifying. The wait between books for some series is excruciating.
That being said, For We Are Many is a textbook example of "middle book in a trilogy" if you know what I mean.

Just finished Cibola Burn Book 4 in the Expanse. What a great example of "here are a set of problems, now you crew come up with the answers". Definitely had the closest Watch "the established players" deal with a series of interesting NPCs of any of the four books. I smell the authors playing in that universe they created at the the table and then turning those games into a book. Which is fine and makes for fine reading. Their original boss was old G.R.R. Sounds like that's where he got all of his ideas too...
