This is what I've come up with, feedback would be appreciated:
-After Rogue One went rogue and got the Death Star plans the Rebellion went and formed more Rogues. The PCs are part of Rogue Two. Carrying on the legacy of Rogue One by doing what the rest of the Rebellion can’t or won’t do.
-The Rogues are sent on recovery mission. Tasked with getting onto a planet/ space station and finding a droid or getting the droid data.
-Things to think about:
-the planet the droid is on - maybe an imperial space station?
-who has the droid - the Imperials
-what kind of droid is it - analyst droid/ science droid/ medical droid
-what is important about the droid - co-ordinates to one of Vader’s secret bases
-The droid is held on an Imperial controlled planet/ space station. Having been confiscated by the Imperials during a routine check of a ship. The ship was secretly a Rebel sympathizer and agreed to house some cargo. He’s been taken into custody as well. Up to the PCs if they want to rescue him as well.
-actually held on a space station in orbit. Where the ship was docking for Imperial inspection. Something else in the ship set off the Imperials and then impounded the ship with contents. Had a small container of Spice on board for another client.
-PCs will be given a ship and some equipment for the task. Should try for stealth with minimal killing.
-the droid is supposedly holding a set of co-ordinates to something. If the PCs can get them from the droid, or convince the droid to tell them, it’s an out of the way area of the core. Not far from where they are. It is possible that a failed pilot check will get them noticed and shot at. With a lucky shot they would be made to crash land near the base.
-going to the location provided by the droid it’s a secret Imperial base. Small staff and mostly droids. The base seems to be a laboratory of sorts. Maybe was a relic of the Clone Wars.
-getting into the base is a bit of a challenge due to location and security. Coms are being jammed from with in the base. PCs will need to get in to disable the jammer and send their location to the Rebels.
-if able to find either a computer port or terminal the team can learn it is one of Vader’s bases. Secret from almost everyone. The jammer is in a tower on the other side of the base from where they landed. Along with the jammer is a data library of sorts. Hopefully the PCs can get some data out of it. If they can get the jammer down they can contact the Rebellion home base with details. Turning it into a full scale assault. The PCs just have to live to see it.
-if they try and leave early there will be troops on patrol and guarding their ship. Possibly causing them to steal a ship or fight their way out.
-could be at the landing area for the base when a ship comes in. Looks to be a different kind of Imperial ship. Darth Vader or similar type character could be on it. Possibly a servant of Vader’s preparing the base for inspection or his master’s return. Hearing of the crashed/ shot down ship he places the base on high alert. They’ll now need to fight their way onto a ship.
-either wait for the Rebel strike force or steal a ship and hope to escape or defeat everyone on the base are the options. Roll every few minutes to see if the strike force arrives. PCs could possibly deactivate the defence turrets. Try to wage guerrilla warfare on the base.
