And I think a howitzer is the gun for plinking on a sunday. Not all opinions are equally valid. Just look at all the people who are of the opinion that over 90% of the scientific community is wrong about global warming. They have an opinion too! There are also all the drunks who are of the opinion that they drive fine while drunk! I have no idea how we keep pulling them over, since they must be indistinguishable from all other drivers! Yes, because the rules system used for a given RPG setting has the same importance and magnitude as does guns, global warming, and drunk driving. Eye-roll indeed... I think I just sprained mine rolling them so hard at your army of straw men.

Hey, since any suggestion goes here without evidence or reasoning, why not swords and wizardry? I know nothing about the system! But Tim likes it, so it should be fine. While you are at it you could try mongoose traveler, because a change to the tech level would fix half of it. You could even use Bill's SW force rules for magic (sorry to bring you into this Bill, you are a decent fellow)! The fact that you put forth pathfinder as a replacement for WHFRP makes me want to buy a grave so I can roll over in it. I cut my teeth on WHFRP, it was the first game I played with a good group (once I left the dysfunctional folks I was playing D&D with). The idea of replacing it with pathfinder is one of the worst things I have heard yet. Even Dungeon World is a better choice. They are both awful, but at least dungeon world can be threatening! I mean, all i'd have to do to get pathfinder to be passable as WHFRP is rip out all the pages of the book between the covers and start from scratch. If you don't even see a fraction of how bad a fit pathfinder is for WHFRP, we really have nothing more to talk about. We are galaxies apart. Maybe we even exist in different dimensions. That is how polarized our views are from one another.

Hey, since any suggestion goes here without evidence or reasoning, why not swords and wizardry? I know nothing about the system! But Tim likes it, so it should be fine. S&W would be a better fit than would Pathfinder. Luckily, you don't have to know the system: the OP asked EVERYONE if anyone had any thoughts or experience running WHFRP in a different system, therefore everyone gets to respond with their opinions whether you like it or not. Your opinion on whether I successfully ran WHFRP with Pathfinder or not, or if HyveMind thinks Dungeon World would be a good fit or not, doesn't matter one bit. All the evidence I need - or that you or anyone else should need - is that I did it, it worked, and everyone had a good time. You may not like it, you may think it's a bad choice, but again, that doesn't matter one bit. I did it, and it worked. Stuff that in your pipe and smoke it. The fact that you put forth pathfinder as a replacement for WHFRP makes me want to buy a grave so I can roll over in it. Is that all it takes? Shit, I'm going to revive that game right now. In fact, I think I'm going to pull out my old D&D 4E books and run WHFRP using that. It'll be great when Orcus and Jubilex descend on Middenheim! I can't wait to run this again.

Pump the brakes there, big shoots. Maybe take 15 to 20% off the top.
We're all here to talk about games. No one's opinion on an RPG is going to hurt anyone else.
Comparing someone's opinion of an RPG to someone who thinks it's okay to drive drunk is flat out ridiculous.

Letting bad ideas run rampant is like letting the equivalent of michael bay direct every movie. It would damage cinema as an artform (and as plain old entertainment). Plus, my point wasn't really about tarring these people as dangerous, but pointing out how ridiculous their stances are.

"I disagree with your opinion, and this is why" is going to have a lot more traction that "Your opinion is different than mine and you are stupid for having it!" Basically, you can believe you are right, and someone else is wrong, and NOT BE AN ASSHOLE ABOUT IT.

I started off my night last night (I work the night shift) by arguing politics for a few hours. Everywhere I look I can't help to see the parallels. So while all excuses suck, you might get a sense of why I'm in such a fighting mood.

So, @stevensw, that is a bullshit excuse. If you have problems somewhere else that have put you in a bad mood, keep your bad mood elsewhere. We're not your venting ground, somewhere for you go treat people like shit when you've had a bad day.
