I think you mean monsters that kiss, joecrak. Don't hunt monsters, love them. But, because they are teenagers, hate is also acceptable. Emotions go back and forth like crazy after all.

I played a Scooby Cthulhu game at my last con. It was surprisingly casually racist and poorly structured. I wouldn't recommend it.

I gotta admit, I'm kinda stoked to see this happening. Got to finally play in Masks at the last Strategicon in Feb, and it did not disappoint (and it helped having jazzisblues and gina at the table!) Carl Rigney GM'd it, and I'd heard good things about him as well. Looking forward to seeing how the players take ownership of the character types, as mentioned previously (by HyveMynd?) that is one of my favorite parts of PbtA games.

Why did I move over here to Japan? It seems like you get to play with all the cool kids there in LA.

Carl is the grand master of all things Masks ... Well of most things in any form really. I think we're going to have some fun and hijinks and maybe even some shenanigans. JiB

I'll be curious to see if they grok the game on the first pass. It may say supers on the cover, but that seemed really tangential to the actual thrust of play to me. Damage comes in the form of emotions, which hints strongly at the games 'deeper' nature. Combine that with the fact that your stats and relationships are in constant flux and it really nails down what I think is the crux of the game: Discovery of self. That's what you are playing to find out. Super powers are just a catalyst for drama, the game could probably run just fine without them. Maybe the group is the student council or constantly in detention together *shrugs*, same story, different dressing.
Also, teens monsterhunting sounds more like Buffy the Vampire Slayer to me than Scooby Doo (which was more mystery solving than monster hunting).
