Wow! Fighting Fantasy seems to be undergoing a resurgence at the moment! (Have you seen the digital versions of the gamebooks?)

I will confess to a little self-promotion; I chatted with the guy who runs Tin Man Games for my podcast recently.

I have Warlock as a board game really well done...it's *squints eyes does clunky calculations* THIRTY FUCKIN' years old?!? Why do I feel exhausted suddenly It served as a great RPG introducer to friends who just could not initially understand D&D...

I still have mine; got it signed by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingston at the UK Games Expo a few years back. I use it as my intro to RPG's for kids.

I have to admit, my nostalgia won and I bought in.

I have to admit, my nostalgia won and I bought in. I'm very tempted - how would you score the setting book and core system? Aaron The system is dead simple: 2d6, roll low for unopposed tasks, or 2d6, roll high + modifiers vs opponent for everything else. The core book is well laid out and easy to grok. I haven't gotten to the magic system yet, but it's clear and easy, it's basically the system from the FF books. One thing I like is that there are two pages in the back left blank with a border and labelled "House Rules." There's both a table of contents and an index. The Titan book is pure fluff. Laid out by region/continent, it includes tons of detail and is fairly well written from what I have read. The other books in the bundle include: Other magic systems (mask magic, necromancy, etc...), mass battle rules, holdings and dominions, hirelings, and "afflictions" in the Heroes' Companion Book. This one is Bookmarked. Sorcery (as opposed to Wizardry) in the Sorcery Spell Book. But it has neither index nor useful ToC. A bestiary in Beyond the Pit, also with no ToC or Index at all. The adventure Warlock of Firetop Mountain. If I play it, I'll probably go through the books and add bookmarks to those that don't have anything, and add hyperlinks to the ToC/Index for those very few that have one.
