Gah, Synnibar! Awful! I actually sold my copy to Piratecat (ENWorld mod) for $1 and a promise he'd never send it back to me.

You know it will show up someday as a 'secret santa' gift... There's an idea, at Gateway we do a white elephant gift exchange. Eveyone give out copies of Rifts, Synnibar, and Fantasy Imperium.

I like the idea of making a Happy Jacks 2 page Adventure, I say 2 page because 1 page dungeons are front side only(I entered, my entry sorta sucks, but I figured what the hell). You guys should think of a catchy name for your format though, something so that people know its a Happy Jacks sort of thing.
I'd try and get something done for submission.
P.S. yea I'm sending the email too, since that's what Stu said is the way to vote

Great episode! A coupla things to say about it: * It's about damn time Fray got his butt into the studio to join in! The more he's there, the less time he has to post weird shit in the General forum. * Shitty systems: When I was stationed in Korea, I got to participate in a quickly-abandoned attempt to play Rolemaster. If I remember correctly we only made it through two sessions, and the first was entirely spent rolling up characters. * Bluetooth: I hadn't ever heard about King Harald Gormson. That's some really cool shit, and I had to read up on it a bit. There's some debate about it but apparently like the Bluetooth nickname actually came from a translation fuckup, and not from ye olde king's love of blueberries. * I'd be more than happy to participate in a 2-page adventure competition. Call it Adventures in Happy Jack's Shorts, or something to that effect...

Count me in for the 2 page adventure idea. Even got one in mind that I ran not too long ago which makes things simpler.

People seem to be chiming in here about their willingness to participate in the 2-page adventure thing. I've sent an email to Stu, but I'll mention it here too; I'm in. I'll submit an entry for every category you guys come up with. Not because I have a slew of adventures ready to go, or because I think I'm some sort of GM-ing genius, mind you. I just think it's a really great idea and want there to be enough entries for it to actually happen. Also, thank goodness Stu said it's going to be system agnostic. " The System That Must Not Be Named" was mentioned a few times, and I was worried it would only be for that one. I have a copy of In A Wicked Age, though I haven't tried it yet. It looks interesting, and JiB is exactly right; you use a deck of cards to generate a starting situation and a bunch of elements that then become the character list you can choose from. It's a real narrative-style game, so I could see someone being blind-sided by it.

My one experience playing Wicked Age was kind of meh but like I said on the cast I think it was a disconnect between myself and the gm not a failing of the system. Cheers, JiB

I too would be up for submitting something. It'll probably suck, but it'll make the rest of the book look better in comparison.

Stu forgot to mention that all submissions will be translated to Savage Worlds before publication. Gah! If that's the case, one of my adventures will involve the PCs searching for an ancient plaque that has the mystic power to alter reality. It'll include a player hand out that is actually a conversion guide from Savage Worlds to Ubiquity.

On the discussion about the MMO players who "I search the room. I get a 25": While the advent of skills did make the trait more visible, it has been there since players got to roll their own. Isolating armorclass from results etc. Taking skills away from gaming is not practical, but taking the dice away from the player might. It also stops the "me too"s.
When I started playing, we had 1 set of dice. The DMs. He rolled everything. Attacks, reactions, etc.
While I acknowledge that this is hard on the gm, the players can describe what they are doing and when they think they are ready for a roll, add "my search is +8 (or 14 or whatever) and the DM can then roll, or not. This also eliminates some of the meta occuring when a player rolls for detecting traps (and such). If he rolls high and there's no trap found, he can be pretty sure theres no trap. If he rolls low and there's no trap found, other players will search. If they don't know what was rolled (behind the screen) they will have to role-play. "Do we trust the rogue who detects no traps, or do we treat him like an idiot and look for one?"

"Do we trust the rogue who detects no traps, or do we treat him like an idiot and look for one?" I have done that in the past where I rolled all the die rolls. Depending on the players it can work very well or it can make them feel like they're not in control. Where I have ended up is I make a distinction between active rolls and passive rolls. An active roll is when the player states that they are doing something. "I'm searching the room." A passive roll occurs when something is going on around the pc. For example the rogue sneaking down the corridor but doesn't tell me they're looking for traps, is a passive roll. I make passive rolls often without the players even knowing it's going on because in either case I just roll it into the narrative and go on our way. Cheers, JiB

I would totally love to be a part of a book of Douchebag Demos. Or a Happy Jacks One Sheet(dunno if that is copywritten or not...), or a Stu and Crew Double Sider, or a Happy Jacks 2plyforagamerguy.

Since this was mentioned in the podcast ... Healing
I'm running a homebrew Pathfinder campaign now and one of the things I set up from the beginning was that there are no Clerics. We've got a Druid and Bard with healing abilities but I made sure to stress to all the players that they could take the Healing skill and do things naturally.
It's working out well so far.
