I only just began, but I need to apologize to you gina that kickstarter description is written way bad, not even Conway plays it that way. The cards in front of you, represent characters you have influence over. When you gain influence over someone, take a card from them. When you give someone influence, give them a card. It's much easier mentally this way, cause the way it's written can cause much confusion. The cards I think you have also sort of reinforce this point. The first line is "take +1 to all moves targeting the person that have you this card" cause your words matter To the person you have influence over.

(I don't know why but my brain insists on backwardsing it, like a lot. Apparently it's the way I originally processed the info from the KS.) We corrected ourselves after cadave pointed it out at the end of the session. :)

Oh, another thing that's kind of important!
You can never roll the dice at lower than a -2. So even if you have a -2 stat, and a condition, that would make it -4, you still only roll at a -2. The reasoning being that you will always have some chance to get the 10+ result.
