Isn't "Sailor Moon the Wankfest" an old White Wolf game?
And you know what? I really LIKE Sailor Moon. It's my desktop wallpaper on my work PC. I've got volume one of the original manga (which I'm struggling to read cause kanji is stupid hard). I'm sporadically watching the new Sailor Moon Crystal. And I'm always thinking about statting up the sailor senshi in one RPG system or another (usually Fate Accelerated or Cortex).
But I'm not trying to play a sailor senshi in ANY of my current RPGs. Why? Because none of the games I'm in are anime themed or flavored, and so anime aesthetic, tropes, and characters don't really fit.
Make a character that fits the theme, tone, and setting of the game, and stop trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.

Well, theoretically, you could play a youngster Changeling from The Dreaming.

i guess i am too focused on the Moe Blob and Magical Girl Genres of Anime which normally go hand in hand. a Moe Blob is a character who is usually young and filled with flaws that are intended to make them more endearing tom their target audience. in the end, you have a character who is ridden with cutesy flaws who is designed to be cutesey and not much else.
magical girl genre in the traditional sense can be emulated by most core spellcasting classes. you have youthful female characters who generally run around in fancy but provocative clothes and cast spells in an almost sentai team style fashion against the current monster of the week. magical girls are generally members of themed squads where each girl has a different gimmick,
a Magical Girl Moe Blob is a Magical girl who is riddled with flaws and designed to be cute and endearing. however such series still keep a lighthearted tone rather than keeping the grimdark feel of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
PMMM was probably one of the few serious grimdark magical girl series out there.

i guess i am too focused on the Moe Blob and Magical Girl Genres of Anime No... too focused on what they wear, or what you want to have your characters wear.

I think it's safe to say you are fetishizing those aspects.

I think it's safe to say you are fetishizing those aspects. not in a sexual way though. or i don't think its for sexual purposes. i just really focus on cute things to the point of fetishization.

There's more to fetishization than sexual fetishization, though it's interesting that's where you immediately thought I was going with it. If I were Kainguru, this is the part where I'd ask you to tell me about your mother.

i am just so accustomed to people using terms like fetishization to refer to something sexual in nature that it is a default response for me to assume the other means it in that regard. very rare i see somebody who doesn't use it that way, so i kind of got a little defensive.

I'm half tempted to split the posts about magical girls and what they wear into a separate thread.

I'm half tempted to split the posts about magical girls and what they wear into a separate thread. Thanks for splitting off the thread Probie Tim. Though it did take me a few seconds to understand why the website was notifying me about posting in a thread called Fey-touched and magical girls in D&D.

But yeah, the conversation had taken a far turn from what people (still) hated about D&D.

Just an aside, Guardians of Order did a Sailor Moon book for Big Eyes Small Mouth.
