I playtested the Star Trek Adventures game and it was pretty good. Uses the 2D20 rules also used in Mutant Chronicles and in the up coming Conan rpg. I had a lot of fun running it at KublaCon a northern California gaming con that broke attendance record this year of 3,338 attendees. Had a blast with a 4 hour, 6 player game. I won't be getting the Borg Cube, just a bit too pricey but the core book will join my collective!

Complaints that the pre-order items were too expensive has seen some changes and new offers Hey Fredrix, Yea I saw that they have a Borg Drone Set for about 325??? I love the idea but I already have way too many rpg's on my book shelves. I literally have three 5 shelf book shelves full of rpgs. My wife would kill me if I got that big Cube. And really it would be a pain to cart it to anywhere. I will still with the core book and maybe buy the challenge dice set(6 sided) In the game 1 and 2 are points of damage. 3 and 4 are no effect and 5 and 6 you get a special effect. So i can see buying those just to make things simple. Still I ran it at a con with people that had never used the system and they got it pretty quickly and easily. Saulster

Too...many. I don't understand. Like I understand what the words means individually, but they don't make any sense strung together like that. Maybe saulster having a stroke?

Reading about them on the website.
They seem very Next Gen. being an OS fan not sure how I feel about that.

Reading about them on the website. They seem very Next Gen. being an OS fan not sure how I feel about that. I playtested the game. There is strong support for running OS campaigns. There is no support for the new movies (not covered by the IP license) and I don't recall seeing anything about the Enterprise era.

Their advertising doesn't make it seem so which made me confused.

The playtest is taking the form of a "living campaign". The first one was a very basic next gen style adventure. But after that GMs could choose to run a choice of four paths. One of those, USS Lexington is OS, the other three broadly reflect the general themes of TNG, a more Warlike path about an Akira class ship reflecting DS9's later stories or an explorer ship like Voyager. So, there's something for everyone. There's a metaplot appparently that covers both eras.
My group weren't into it so I pulled out of the playtest.

Finally got my book from the pre-order. It's a nice looking book and I ran a game over the Labor Day Weekend Con called Pacificon. It went really well. One player told my wife(she didn't play) that is was like a really good episode of Star Trek show. I will take that as a good thing. Anybody else play it yet. I really like the 2D20 system.

It's on my list to pick up at some point but given my current list of unplayed games I'm holding off for now Hey there Whodo, I know what you mean, my list of RPGs that I have not played, UGGHhhh Don't remind me. Though for the last 3 years I have been running short adventures online with friends and they seem more inclined to play different games than my Face To Face group. Still I have shelves of rpg books which I have not played. But you should get Star Trek Adventures.. I really like the 2D20 system, it gets the similar situations as Star Wars Funky dice but without the cryptic symbols and stuff. I think it works pretty darn well. Saulster
