Usually when I say I like ABBA, the response is usually something like this:

Did you know that one of the guys in that band was a neo-nazi I had heard about that, yeah! Crazy.

Oddly enough I don't have any guilty pleasures with pop culture because I play anything around anyone.
And my children get tortured with it all from metal to show tunes to Duran Duran.

Yep, though I don't particularly care for Korpiklaani. In no particular order:
Eluveitie Wardruna (less metal, more folk) Faun (also less metal, more folk) Huldre Lumsk Heidevolk Folkstone Tenngar Cavalry Amorphis

Ice cream is a guilty pleasure (because I should be focused on losing weight and being healthy, not stuffing my face). I don't have to feel guilty about the music I like. I don't have anyone I need to impress with the music I listen to anymore, high school is long since over. Nobody "has to," but many people do. It's about acknowledging that you enjoy a thing or two which are not objectively high-quality examples of their field, but still make you happy. Also....Whoop whoop! Fun police!

Many people also hide their rpg books and the hobby as a whole. There are plenty of things in the world worth hiding, but not music or games. Guilty pleasures have nothing to do with quality and everything to do with shame. If you like Dancing Queen, that isn't exactly shameful in my book.

I'm not really guilty about any of my pleasures, I'll share them with anyone who asks, and many who don't!

I feel for people who have to downplay their passions. I'm a cop; not a lot of room for my geek flag to fly, though I've owned more as time goes on. But the phrase 'guilty pleasure,' has been in use for ages. It covers everything from soap operas to Jerry Springer, tropey fantasy to 50 Shades, and disco to Nickelback. It's tongue-in-cheek, and a huge difference between actually feeling shameful over your indulgence. Hence discussing it in a public forum. So....can everybody just have fun talking about the mental cotton candy they enjoy?

As chief of the fun police, I cannot allow one of my officers of the fun police to be so lackadaisical in their duties. You must commence a full crack down on all fun immediately or face internal review from the fun feds.

Like others, I'm not guilty for any of the music I like. Back when I was a school, Queen were a sort of guilty pleasure, because they were not "proper musicians," but of course, now everyone recognises how brilliant they were. This s is my "guiltiest" my f their oeuvre: youtu.be/LfmrHTdXgK4I also love Abba who, again, are now recognised for brilliance in Pop (but many have linked them) and the Frank Popp Ensemble (who don't let YouTube share). Before Fairytale of New York I was laughed at for liking the Pogues, but I won that one too. Everybody think they were great now. This is my favourite track and the song I used to sing my daughter to sleep with: youtu.be/MZnhKUfVdOIAnd to finish off, there's Status Quo singing "All Around my Hat", sadly not with the lyrics I wrote: youtu.be/cVsEJytTP2U(If you are interested, the Lyrics I wrote were "All around my hat I will wear the green willow, and All around my hat, For a twelve month and a day. And, If anyone should ask me The reason why I'm wearing it IT'S MY FUCKING WILLOW, and IT'S MY FUCKING HAT!"
