Great, this is gonna be L5R all over again. First we had Taint all over the place, now it's Asses everywhere! So stork is playing an Orc, a Storc! Regarding Orc Bards, wouldn't it be interesting if they were the exception to the Father/Mother divide? The only Orcs who walk the line between the two. I don't know if that completely breaks the lore but I thought it was worth mentioning. stork and jazzisblues Never fear, I have also seen Spaced Invaders, it's awesome. It's been a while though... I should work on that. About making "Blood, Blade and Tusk" (tsk tsk tsk Venable, you're missing that Oxford comma there) as a product for retail, do you plan to make it a system agnostic book or specifically for MoT. Also, do you plan to make any of your future books available as Print on Demand on DriveThru? PDFs are nice but I only read physical books so kinda wondering. Nice ending with the sound there, smooooooth like a sandpaper enema.

This episode is really interesting... As the first MoT game I have watched its a little hard to track what is being rolled. I think I'm going to have to download the playtest and read it over.
I loved Stork trying to explain looting to his traveling companions! Amazing!

I will be available at momentoftruthrpg.com for download. I haven't gotten into the details yet, but I'm planning on putting it on drivethru as a "pay what you want" title, with options for print-on-demand (yes, I prefer real books too). For BBT (and other settings), I plan to include the MoT rules, with modifications for the skill list, equipment list and maybe suggestions for rules dials (like the number of required successes, etc). This may change as things progress, though. And if possible, yes, there'll be a PoD option.

I'm really enjoying the setting, and I love the magic system. Magic being powerful but inherently dangerous to the caster. As much of an art as a sciende. Muy bien.

Rain is the archer's worst enemy.
If the string of the bow get wet you cant shoot, this was often offset by using wax to protect it but long exposure to rain mean that there won't be any shooting.
Also a medieval bow can't be shot "cold" so you need to gradually start "stretching" it before use or you risk the bow breaking.
And thirdly you can't keep a bow strung a long time or it will start loosing power.
I saw a real composite horn bow being used in an archery competition and between each round of the competition the archer unstrung his bow.
But for a short bow it had the same or greater power than a longbow (amazing speed of the arrows).

Great setting and RP.
Reserving 2 dice makes sense for melee and unarmed combat but not ranged attacks.

Great setting and RP. Reserving 2 dice makes sense for melee and unarmed combat but not ranged attacks. Can you defend against ranged attacks? It seems that it wouldn't be unreasonable to reserve dice to take a more defensive stance but maby it's better to put the drawbacks on the attack roll.

Great setting and RP. Reserving 2 dice makes sense for melee and unarmed combat but not ranged attacks. I'm assuming that reserving 2 dice might mean you're making use of nearby cover (if it exists) or moving unpredictably. I might put a limit on the effect on ranged attacks, depending on available cover. Perhaps if no cover is readily nearby, you can only count the first two reserved dice.

I saw a real composite horn bow being used in an archery competition and between each round of the competition the archer unstrung his bow. But for a short bow it had the same or greater power than a longbow (amazing speed of the arrows). Being a string player (and having instruments that use gut strings), I totally get this! Keeping ANY stringed instrument (even with steel strings) in tune during rain is a monumental task. I seem to recall that rain had something to do during the Battle of Agincourt (the apocryphal tale of the greatness of long bows), though if I'm remembering correctly, it rained the night before, making the field very muddy, bogging down the cavalry. But it makes me wonder if gut strings would suffer the day after a rain, due to the ambient humidity. I've seen drummers who use natural hide heads nearly weep trying to play during high humidity. I've been thinking about adding a reload number to certain ranged weapons: bolt action rifles, bows, crossbows, etc. If read that Japanese bowmen during the Shogunate had a very fluid motion when reloaded. Did Western archers of develop a similary fluidity?

Also, with gunfire, I'm going to figure out some bonuses for shooting from a prone position. Now that I have a 308 with a reasonably good scope, I can see the difference between shooting standing and prone (with some kind of bracing, like a sand bag) is like night and day.

You can offset moisture with wax but if you are out in bad weather you will start to have trouble.
Its not just the sting but also the bow material that can get affected.
Rules wise I would say that critical rolls mean that something break.
How fast you can shoot with a bow is dependent on how important accuracy is, similar to pistol shooting.
Anyone doing a lot of archery will get a good fluid reload style but if you don't take time for aiming you will miss more.
10 arrows per minute isn't unreasonable with slightly worse accuracy (for a short while, archery is heavy work).
Crossbows are quick if you have a light crossbow (a crossbow that can be drawn by hand) so 5 per minute maby as a maximum.
A medium crossbow (has to use a goat foot/ belt and claw/ wippe) is slower than a light crossbow but faster than a heavy (has to use a crank/ windlass) but those two types I have no idea how fast you can shoot in combat.
For BBT the medium and heavy crossbow wouldn't be a problem since they weren't invented yet.
Maby 1 bow shot per round with a -1 dice or 1 shot per 2 rounds at -0.
And 1 crossbow shot per 2 round with a -1 dice or 1 shot per 3 rounds at -0.
And 2 pistol shots per round with a -1 dice or 1 shot per round at -0.
And 3 submachine/full auto shots per round with -1 dice or 1 shot per 2 rounds at -0.
(the -1 dice is maby way off since I'm not updated with the rules and I assumed that one round is ~5 seconds)
Ps. Crossbows with blut arrows where often used by pesants to kill birds and small fluffy animals for fur(squirrels etc.).
