Just started listening. What's that annoying background fuzz?

That's the A/C (if you're talking about the low frequency noise). Or is there some other noise?
I upped the show's compression a couple weeks ago. Have you not heard it on the last few shows?

Yeah, I thought it might be the A/C but it seemed MUCH mouser than usual. Because of the compression you think?

For minimalistic recourse management Red Markets (an rpg) do a good job streamlining.
Another favorite is the Trudvang (another rpg) that simply has packs of gear that deteriorate with use, camping pack, thief pack etc. you roll a dice to see if you have what you need dependant on how large your pack is.
Mutant year zero (third rpg) has food and water but doesn't go in to more details if ypu scaveng/hunt you get a food/water unit.

Love hearing conversation about LARPs.
For the record LARPs have been around since the 70s though I am unsure when the actual term LARP came into being though I suspect the 80s at the latest.

Yes I've been looking through my old magazines to see if Treasure Trap, which started here in the U.K. in 1982 called itself Live Action Roleplay, but 't find any with the advert in. I did come across this very splendid episode of (best children's TV show ever) Blue Peter, from 1983 when two presenters went on "a real live Dungeon adventure" with Treasure Trap:

Out of interest Peter Duncan, who tragically died in the Real live dungeon adventure above, was also killed by Pierce Brosnan's Prince Barrin:

I am looking for when the phrase LARP was coined but I keep running into things I never knew existed
There was a Tales of the Floating Vagabond LARP?

Found a Treasure Trap advert, and they don't call it Live Action instead, calling it a "real life fantasy experience"

What year was that from because I have been told it was used by Treasure Trap in 1984.
But it's all based on people's memories which are not as good as something in print for proving something.

That Ad was from 1882 I think. They don't seem to advertising in '84, but I haven't looking at ALL my back issues yet.

Right, the last ad I can find in White Dwarf was issue 46, October '83. The two subsequent issues each have a half page cut out, which I think was a half page ad and booking form for Treasure Trap, because issue 47 has my scrawled calculation to work out I was £2.82 short of the tenner I needed for a Treasure Trap 'basic' adventure, which me and a mate booked shortly after. Issue 49 doesn't have an Ad, and no later issues feature one.
I can confirm that the October '83 ad does NOT mention Live Action Role Playing or LARP.

On the Monty Haul thing... I've always seen it written that way with the understanding that it's a combination of Monty Hall from Let's Make a Deal merged with, as was said, the hauling away of treasure in quantities so large you need teamsters (which the first edition DMG puts at being worth 50 sp a month to hire...)

So I'm going to reply to the one none RPG thing in this episode.... Stu Venable you mentioned taking your daughter to a swing dance class for your girl scouts dance thing... There are a lot of really bad teachers out there when it comes to swing dancing/lindy hop. If you are just trying to have her learn the basic step and a few turns, may I suggest... www.lindygroove.com/lessonsIts right in Pasadena and they have a beginner class every Thursday at 7:30. My wife and I don't dance there much any more because we live so far away, but we used to dance there all the time and its a fun place. Just don't forget its cash only.

Oh Jesus Christ. An L5R LARP? Where people walk around in kimonos carrying katanas? Let me go slice my gut open with my wakizaashi.
