I know Stu was trying to talk to them at GenCon, maybe they would be a bit more open to talking about it now? Perhaps for AP play?

Saw it on Facebook. Signed up.
I doubt it'll be a full version, so we'll probably run 4th for the AP.

It's definitely not the full version; they 'fess up to that on the webpage. As the beta will run for 12 weeks, I'm expecting the final version Q2 next year. I'm in; I plan to convert one of my old one-shots and run my gang through it.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I like roll & keep and nds; as long as they can maintain the 'three feet from death' tone, I'll be happy.

I'm very concerned about the fact more than likely, we will be looking at new dice purchases specific to the game like their Star Wars. So short of dice rolling apps for it, I'm probably a browse at best, especially since it looks like the canon roughly reboots to pre-Clan War and largely the same NPCs so far. I chuckle too because I dredged the old Pure Lands monks sect up for a game I'm setting up, and now.. they're in the story. Second time I've had this happen...

I bought all the Clan dice sets from Q-Workshop and they were more expensive than a set of FFG’s NDS dice. Of course, if it is NDS, I already have the SW dice too, so I can probably use them. I’m certainly going to use them for Genesys.

EDIT: Apologies in advance if this comes off argumentative. I know the Internet has a tendency to make comments come out harsher than they should. And I know also that a new system will not make any of my first edition books obselete. Here becomes the better question, and I think it's a design question also. Not everyone has free money to buy new dice on top of a new system. And I know that some people will say 'well, it's not THAT much...' But for some people, it can be. Like myself, single dad, single income raising twin sons that also like to game at times. I have the token Crown bag full of dice I've accumulated since 1982. Are the designs needing new stylized dice really something required, or something that's done to increase profits? I've been around long enough to have seen mechanics run the gamut from the Old Basic D&D to Amber diceless, to Fate Core, Rolemaster, GURPS, you name it. There are many ways to do a system without needing to put out new dice. Yes, I know they have a Star Wars conversion chart, but do we need an extra step? Do we need to print stickers to make it easier? At a certain age, you start getting maybe four hour sessions. God bless ya if you have the spare money etc, but to me, it seems like releasing a game on Steam and then requiring the player to buy DLC to make the stuff go. We'll see next week though.

Fair point well made. I think RPG companies realise there isn’t a long tail to most new RPGs. Every player round the table might invest in the core book, but only one (the GM) buys the adventures, so they are not a sustainable income stream. Hell, with your imagination and a set of normal dice, you could adventure for thirty years without paying the publishers another dime. So, yes, I believe theirs a financial motive to FFGs decision to use custom dice. But having seen great games companies produce great stuff and still go bust, I can’t say o blame them. I’m interested in how they expect gamers to play test the system though, or are they assuming we’ll rush out and buy Star Wars dice? I plan on borrowing my son’s.

I just wish they would include a set with the core book. I get that with Star Wars they're in the beginners set but there's going to be a lot of people that skip that and jump straight to the core book only to find they need the dice as well.
