I am Jack's total indecisiveness....
We know we have Phoenix already in the party, so I'll avoid that one.
I'm currently leaning toward Dragon... but also love horses and so Unicorn is appealing. It might also be interesting to be something less polished.
MAKE YOUR CLAN CASE!!! I think I will not be a caster this time.

They say Shugenja never bathe alone, kami in the water, you see. In the first Inukai game Kimi played a Shugenjs, and I think it was CADave that brought up kami in the water and it skeeved Kimi out pretty bad.

We had ended up in a cursed area that had no kami in it, and was super freaked out. I ended up taking a bath in the castle and realized it was probably the first time in my life I had been near water without there being spirits present. She was disturbed and CADave came up with the "never bathe alone!" I think akavidar was more "..." about his obvious preference for the crab clan.

Dragon clan Togashi Tattooed Person. Enigmatic, weird, cool powers come from tattoos and kiho(martial arts techniques with superaturally stuff really). Oh and you're not really samurai so you aren't held to those standards and are usually respected by everyone.

Being “serious” though, we had an interesting conversation about the clans in the Discord. We were mapping them to the cliques from high school.
Crane are the cheerleaders Lion are the jocks Crab and Scorpion are the rough kids that hang around the smoking area and either want to beat you up, or sell you drugs. Dragon are the stoners Phoenix are the Science club kids And Unicorn are the late birthday kids who are technically older than everyone else and can get them cigarettes and the like.

Crane are more the popular preppy kids than cheerleaders. Lion are definitely jocks. Crab are the grunge kids. Scorpion are definitely the rough kids. I don't think the Dragons are stoners, they're just the... weird kids. The ones who eat paste and mumble weird stuff under their breath or never talk or... well yeah. Phoenix are ABSOLUTELY the science club kids. Unicorn are more the kids who have a car and act like they're better than everyone else because of that fact. I would have added that to the conversation on the Discord but well...

The allure of the Crab clan, for me, is the MASSIVE amount of delicious pathos. It's probably the reason why the Scorpion are another of my favourites. Both clans sacrifice some vital point of the samurai identity for the sake of the rest of the empire. The Scorpion sacrifice their honour to be the Villain of the empire. It was Bayushi's goal to keep the clans fighting one another, and focused on the Scorpion, so that they would never grow strong enough to be a danger to the Emperor.
The Crab are willing to sacrifice their very souls to keep the greatest danger in the world from entering the empire. They stand between an empire that likes to ridicule them as hicks, and the monsters that would tear through them like rice paper. They face the most virulent, horrendous, soul-devouring disease ever imagined to keep all of the clans that mock them pure. They all know that there is literally no way for them to win those fights, and instead of falling to despair and giving in, they stand tall and show us that the glory isn't in the victory, but just in the act of standing up and saying "Not On My Watch!"

I have to say of the 2 choices I do favour the Dragon and the Tattooed monk, the Kiho are awesome and particularly flavourful not to mention they aren’t full on spells but still cool effects. I do like the Shinjo outrider as a school, but its school ability is quite limiting as it requires you to have your horse with you, so won’t always be available.
But for myself my current favoured class is the Kuni Shugenja and although they are another Shugenja, they are very different to most of the others being considerably more pragmatic, I am particularly fond of one of the anecdotes from 4th edition where its pointed out that most people in Rokugan consider it exceptionally rude to cast Jade Strike at someone to see if they are tainted but the Kuni Shuganja just consider it a sensible precaution, but the main reason I like them is that in the Beta they are at present the only school that get access to both kata and invocations, meaning when it does come to laying the smack down they have lots of options, however this does leave them without access to the shuji and the extra social benefits that does abilities bring.

It never ceases to amaze that people join a samurai game to immediately pick the most un-samurai thing they can find.
Anyways, making a case for the clans (that I like the most):
Lion - The samurai caste is a caste of warriors, and these guys are the chosen warriors of the emperor. Their Kami wrote the book on tactics. The answers are all in there. If you can’t find it, the problem is you, not the book. They have a proud lineage of ancestors which they venerate more than any other clan. You can be a tactician or a fierce warrior. They have a proud tradition of fierce female samurai called The Lion’s Pride.
Crane - Samurai may be a caste of warriors, but civility is what keeps them all from slaughtering each other. The Crane live deeper, more enriched lives through their arts. This clan more than any other knows that a sword may kill a single man while a wave of a fan may kill thousands. The Crane dominate the courts just as they do the dueling fields.
