Layla hung up the phone and smiled to herself. She had known Mirislov long enough to recognize the fury in his voice. The Mote would soon be a burning pile of rubble unless he got what he wanted. There would be three possible outcomes.
1. The Prince of the Glittering Night would attack the Antediluvian, awaking her blood lust and setting off a chain of events that will bring about Ghenna, the Great Darkness and the return of Set. This is what Layla desired above all things. She secretly hoped that the Serpent Lord would painfully destroy Nahema for her hesitation to act in her true nature.
2. Mirislov would somehow triumph over the Ancient One. While unthinkable, this Antediluvian seemed weak-willed. At least she had done her duty as a guest in the Glittering Night and informed the Prince of what was happening. If she was forced to return to this floating heap camel dung she should be in the clear. Hopefully, Mirislov's fury would put an end to all the incessant whiners that currently inhabited the Mote. She had the Princes trust for nearly a century and did not envy those who would be in his path. She made a mental note to send him a letter to ensure their continued good relationship, if the world still existed.
3. Finally, the most strange option, what if somehow the Antediluvian went into hiding. Could such a thing happen? How could such a powerful being hope to go unnoticed in the world? Layla shook her head furrowed her dark brows. If the Ancient one escaped today, it only meant the postponement of their goals, not the end of them.
She pondered these outcomes for a moment then looked up at her companions. "It's time for us to go," she said to her faith sisters "all we can hope is that they attack Ancient One and remind her of her destructive purpose. May she bring forth the Darkness." The others nodded and echoed her mantra. They made their way to a waiting craft (the owners had met an unfortunate but delicious end shortly before) and made their way out over the dark water. A smile brushed Layla's lips again as she heard the faint sound of helicopter blades faintly in the distance.
