The Screaming Traegh is an award given every year at the one LARP I go to that salutes when a player chooses and action that will certainly cause more trouble for them than it is worth but it is in character. The example used is of a savage warrior group called the Traegh charging in against an enemy he or she does not have the capabilities of hurting.
What are some of your Screaming Traegh moments?

In the current game I'm playing? Like, everything my character does is a Screaming Traegh moment.

Well, in a second edition AD&D game I wanted to play a second character because I was bored with the first one, but the GM didn't want him to go away. After enough badgering, the GM relented on the stipulation that I rolled 3d6 in order for attributes. Here's what I rolled (in reverse order to heighten the anticipation):
CHA: 10 CON: 8 DEX: 9 WIS: 11 INT: 18 STR: 3
Yup. I generated a 3 STR magic-user. He was a blast to play, and my first character wound up being his henchman, carrying his spellbooks and stuff around because he couldn't carry anything besides the clothes on his back and his staff... which he needed to help him walk.

So I'm currently playing in a Werewolf Larp. The Sept is in Stillwter, Oklahoma and run by a council of Elders with no Alpha due to a pact at the Sept's creation several generations ago. The Theurge Elder is an old Get of Fenris who took a group of garou on a Quest for an Fetish for the Sept, they managed to piss off several Totem Avatars including Pegasus. So I'm playing, Truth Seeker, a Black Fury Philodox (who is also a social worker) who has been very active in going here or there to investigate issues and helping deal with dangers to the Sept. So at the beggining of this particular game a Bone Gnawer Ragabash Cliath who had just passed her Cliath trial (and was doing some work around Magnusson's farm) the month before comes up to Truth Seeker horrified about the marriage of our Theurge Elder Magnusson to a very young girl who can't speak English and hasn't been let out of the house since her arrival 2-3 weeks before. There were currently 3 other Black Furies (2 of which were are packmates), the one that is an Ahroun and a state police officer was called away just before we got the news about the girl. So there was my Black Fury Galliard packmate who is also an EMT and an Ahroun Black Fury that had just arrived with me and were not happy either and we wanted to check on this girl and Truth Seeker is usually a sensible and rational garou but she is young and Pegasus was really mad at Magnusson and this was a moot and his granddaughter had died the month before so we had her funeral then went into the moot celebration. So I talk to a Rank 4 Theurge about how to talk to the girl and he needed to know what language she spoke which of course we weren't sure. So I get the bright idea, we'll go talk to her and use google translate on the smart phone I have to determine what language she is speaking. So keep in mind I knew as a player that Magnusson's farm is where the Sept's Fetish vault was located but in character every time it had been mentioned/yelled at people Truth Seeker was somewhere else doing Sept business. So my Philodox, Galliard, and an Ahroun Black Fury drive up to the Farm and start heading straight to the front door of what we know is Magnusson's cabin and of course a huge dog greats us but since we didn't ask or tell anyone we were heading here and hadn't been here before we did not know the protocols for letting the dog know we were not enemies so it lunges at us, the Ahroun pins it but we don't actually want to hurt the dog so the Galliard always has an EMT bag with her so she gets out a syringe of ketamine and put the dog to sleep. We start to get closer to the door but two fire spirits and a water spirit (I can't remember the actual name of the spirits) pop up for defense and we did try to talk to them but that didn't work, the Ahroun holds her own against them, the Galliard has a gun and can shoot so wasn't too close but while I have wasp talons and a little bit of brawl Truth Seeker is more support and not a big fighter but she has resist pain and survival so I fight for a 2 or 3 rounds but then keep heading towards the door, I almost get knocked down but I manage to determinedly keep going and make it to the door and one of the spirits lets out a call loud enough for most of the people at the moot to hear since the farm is maybe a couple of miles away. The Ahroun and I had shifted forms but when I got to the edge of the porch I shifted back to human and just after the call went out the Ahroun shifted back to human as well, so when a bunch of the Sept arrived they saw a passed out dog, me knocking on the door with a fresh burn on her face, and the Ahroun holding a spirit and the Galliard calmly looking on. I got yelled at by my Philodox Elder who is a Silverfang but he did say he would talk to the girl (I was a little sad as a player because if it had been anyone else I was planning on going into a huge yelling rant), so we were sent back to the Caern and scandal was called on us, but we got off with only being banned from contact with any Get of Fenris Kinfolk and the Farm for 3 months. But Truth Seeker now knows there is a landline at Magnusson's place and I'm trying to work in a phone call to the girl, but since it is a LARP we do once a month it's a little bit difficult to work in some of the small crazy things my character would totally do. Oh and Magnusson the Elder Theurge is the Storytellers NPC character - he was not expecting our plan but as a storyteller he loved it.

Well, I expected to come away from our latest Monsterhearts session with a few Screaming Traegh moments for my character. But it turned out to be a (relatively speaking) uneventful session for Donna the teenaged Wyrm and her Thrills/Pain hunger ghoul girlfriend, Vivian. Shame.
One thing that is almost certainly going to come back and bite Donna in her scaled ass is the deal she made with Ingrid, the Fae (another PC). Donna has promised to sell Ingrid (a 17-year old without ID) cigarettes whenever she comes into the Speedway where Donna works. In exchange, Donna "bought" the two points of influence Ingrid had over Vivian. (See, Donna's a jealous bitch and won't stand for anyone else "owning" Vivian besides her.) Depending on who sees the transaction, Ingrid could very well get Donna fired from her job.

I suppose that depends on what you mean by worth it. I always find the entertainment of my characters pitching themselves out of the frying pan and into the fire to be totally worth it.
