I was just discussing with a friend how Happy Jacks talks about a renaissance of RPG gaming coming out of Scandinavia and I mentioned to my friend we have never tried a Scandinavian game.
He brought up Mutant Chronicles, which along with the card game Doomtrooper we played the crap out of that stuff.
Was that popular in Sweden at all? No one touched that game around here except for a small group of us, though we went all in with the card, game, the board games, anything we could get our hands on. I still love Seige of the Citadel, though I lost my RPG books probably 15 years ago...

Mutant has a long history in Swedish gaming, and it comes in many variants. There WAS a Mutant Chronicles RPG in Swedish, published by Target I think. But I guess it’s more likely you played the Modiphius version? Which had a d20 based system, and used the Mutant Chronicles IP, licensed from Paradox Entertainment.

Ok Mutant was the first RPG I ever played (1986?) and here is a timeline of those games:
"Old" Mutant (1984) This game was inspired by Gamma World and took place "several hundred" years after an apocalypse wiped out humanity. The world is slowly starting to rebuild and is populated by humans, mutants, anthropomorphic animals, robots and cheers/anthropomorphic animals cheers. The setting is Diselpunk-like western in Scandinavia with technology from before the apocalypse.
"new" Mutant (1989) This is a cyberpunk game with the same races as the past version races but new rules and setting.
Mutant R.Y.M.D/S.P.A.C.E (1992) Similar setting as "new" Mutant but now in space with demons from Mars. This setting was inspired by Warhammer 40k and was quickly replaced by:
Mutant Chronicles (1993) Sci-fi inspired by Warhammer 40k but with creatures and symbolic from the RPG game KULT. This version is the least connected with the original games.
Mutant: Undergångens arvtagare/Inheritors of the apocalypse (2002) Back to the "old" mutant setting but with a darker tone and a more oppressive government and secrets societies, this is my favorite iteration of the setting.
Mutant: År Noll/Year Zero Similar but different, this game takes place before society has started to rebuild and has different books/games for each race: humans/anthropomorphic animals/robots. It also have the Elysium game that takes place DURING the apocalypse.

If the 1993 one was translated into English I am almost positive that’s the one we played. It would have been mid 90s and definitely had a 40k feel to it.
I just remember undead led by demons coming from the 10th planet Nero.

There was something about portals on mars and Venus was covered by jungle.
I played it some but not enough to remember more than that and the corporations:
Capitol, Mishima, Bauhaus, Imperial, and Cybertronic.

Yes, Uncommonman, that’s Mutant Chronicles. Eric likely was playing the older version, as the Modipius one is moderately recent.

Lots of PDFs, you migh even work out exactly which edition you played: www.mutantpedia.com/eng/GDR.html

Bought droves of it instead of this crap called Magic or something. Doomtrooper wasn't the best of games, and I ventured over to Magic in the end. I sometimes lay awake at night, staring into the ceiling and thinking about all the sweet cards from Magic's firsts expansions that stupid kid me never bought.

I call Swedish Chef Wolverine. You are a part of the Badger clan. Choose the name of a famous ice hockey or other winter sport athlete. This name is followed by a number representing witch person of that name that has been born in Paradise Valley. There's no chef class so choose hunter, healer or scavenger.

Was that a specific setup to a Håkan Loob 69 joke?

Was that a specific setup to a Håkan Loob 69 joke? *Slow clap* It wasn't but that is a good joke. I have my Genlab alpha books out and is ready to help you though character generation if you want. The classes warrior and seeer is also possible.
