I mentioned this to Kimi before, but I think I will put it here as well as an option for making the "Help a Player" mechanic less disruptive.
I am under the impression that the disruption comes more from the announcements and in some cases, the players dropping not so subtle hints that a help a player would be nice at various points throughout the game, more so than that they help 'skew' the game more towards the players advantage.
To ameliorate this, I have seen one Streaming GM implement this. During the first 20 minutes of the stream, usually known as the BS time of the session, as people are doing recaps, making jokes and such, before the game settles into the actual story, he allows the audience spend their 'Rep/Beers' to buy help a players and such for the game. After that first 20 minutes or so, he ends it, and that is what is locked in for "That session" of the game. The help a players don't carry over to the next session. Seems to me, having a time limit at the beginning for people to do so would cut down on the disruptions, especially as it happens during the time before people get laser focused on the game/story.
Only downside to this I could see would be people who couldn't be there at the beginning of the stream possibly feeling miffed that they can't help/influence as well. Thoughts anyone?

Yeah, I can see that bothering people. And I think Kimi/Nick/Gina/etc do a really good job of waiting for a break moment to drop in the help a players. Like right before a roll or before a combat or something. Sometimes I like to give a help a player as a "kudos" for a funny joke or an awesome moment or something like that so being limited to the first 20 minutes would annoy me, personally. I honestly just think that raising the price would help a ton.

Ah. That was what I forgot to include. For any Help a players and such dropped after the first 20 minutes, they get recorded and awarded at the start of the next session. This is far from perfect, but it's also not my stream, so only tossing out some ideas.
