If this was explained, then I missed it, but I don't think it was addressed.
So, I guess that, when our players drink — the Goldfish Bowl, the “Willy Wonka” rainbow thing, — the code used in the zone produces some fully immersive sensory distortions, rather like a clever screensaver for the entire range of senses stimulated by the interface to the Zone. Does it do more than that, though? I doubt that the Zone interface operates on a neurological mechanism that can introduce chemicals to the bloodstream, let alone directly to the cerebrospinal fluid … but …
Maybe it does. Is that how it can kill someone's meatspace body if they don't logout before their avatar is splattered?
Any thoughts from anyone else?
P.S. I need to know how to mix that Willy Wonka drink.
