It would not surprised me if people have been spreading thin. Both a forum and Discord, and maybe some do all their interacting with Happyjacks on the cesspit that is Facebook, or Twitter.

If we can draw people back to the forum that would be nice, while I understand the draw of discord I find it frustrating to use as I just can't give it enough attention to keep up with busier channels. Much prefer the pace of forums, though can understand why people are put off posting via mobile. Tapatalk is ok but I have run into plenty of connection issues with it.

I find Discord to be a mess of messages and channels and no idea of what to do, as every time I log in it shout I have zillions of things I have not participated in. Meh.

Discord to me is one gigantic run on sentence. It seems to be the preferred way for people to communicate but I just don’t get it

Thank god! I thought I was the only one! It’s the same with Slack! They go on about it replacing or email inbox, but it’s worse (AND of course) people still send you emails... )
Once upon a time I used to check my emails and plan my day - now I have to do emails, Slack, Microsoft teams, Discord, and then some fucker sends me something on Facebook messenger ...

If you work on a computer and can keep it open then I do see the point of them but for actual in depth communication forums are still the best as far as I'm concerned.
I think the rise of discord just reflects changes in home computer use, the bit that amuses me is that it almost reminds me of when dial up was a thing and people congregated in chat rooms, the difference being that you had to arrange to be on at the same time then.

I am (too) active on the Discord and I like it, it reminds me of the old chat rooms from "the old days".

I don’t bother with Discord, so if this went Discord only, that would probably be the end of my interest in Happy Jacks, as I only listen to the show infrequently. On the other hand, so what? I’m one person who accesses the community in a specific way, it’s likely no great loss. I don’t expect my personal preferences to affect the decisions Stu Venable makes for the good of the show. If I can access the forums from my tablet or phone, great. If not, then I’ll just have to roll with it and find something else. C’est la vie.
