I realize that the episode hasn't gone up yet, but I just wanted to say two quick things after being in the chatroom this afternoon. 1. Stu, I don't blame you guys at all for picking up Lamentations of the Flame Princess. I was planning to buy it before you all mentioned it on the podcast, and none of my ire is directed towards any of you in the slightest. 2. Screw the ENnie Awards right in their stupid ear. We put in a submission, were hopeful, and then the nominations were announced. I have no idea what the ENnie judges were looking for based on the five entries they picked. So screw 'em.

I have no idea what the ENnie judges were looking for I haven't heard the episode yet but, putting on my marketer's hat, I would guess money? Promoting something for the purpose of gaining revenue.... I am not suggesting crude incentives. That would be my hat of corruption.

Arrrgh Kiwi's are from New Zealand and New Zealanders are definitely not redneck Australians. As all Kiwi's know most famous Australians are actually Kiwi's . . . . . . and per head of population New Zealand performs better at most sports than Australia. The list goes on . . . Kiwis are more like refined Australians, we're either very geeky or exceptionally risk awareness impaired. Cheers for the mention on my rant guys (D&D movie) . . . But I'm a Kiwi who grew up in Australia (which is why I've leapt so quickly to the defence of my native soil). PS: you're the first people who've ever got the pronunciation of my user name even vaguely right first time Again cheers (kainguru as in kangaroo . . . I always thought it was obvious)

Sorry for the implication that Kiwis were Redneck Australians. I meant that the New Zealand accent, to me, sounds like a mix between an Australian accent, and an American Southern Redneck accent.

Lol . . . Its ok . . . the difference is in the vowels' fush and chups' is kiwi and 'six' is pronounced 'sex' and 'eggs' are 'iggs' Think Jango Fett the actor was a Kiwi who didn't even try to disguise his accent. Kiwi's can't be too sniffy anyway - the land that invented 'dwarf tossing' as a sport (sticky hands being either an occupational hazard or a severe misunderstanding over the rules . . . )

Since Jack Chick was brought up, I thought I'd post my favorite rendition of "Dark Dungeons." www.humpin.org/mst3kdd/

I looked at the list of nominations for the podcast awards. All I have to say is you guys were robbed. It is obvious they didn't take number of listeners into account. Every gamer I have introduced to happy jacks has become a fan. Stu, don't let that insider popularity contest get you down. This thing looks more riggged than American idol. Well, that's my rant for today. Keep up the good work guys, I look forward to every episode and often listen to them twice.

I have to correct Stork on beer , Red Tail Ale is brewed in Mendocino not in Modesto. Much further north more in my neck of the woods. It has been around a very long time though. I have been drinking it since high school. Eye of the Hawk is quite delicious. I have since changed my preference to super hoppy ipa and dipa so I do not have it as much any longer.

You guys were so close to being right about Teens not having souls, but your reasons were just a little off. Here's a video with Ze Frank that will explain it better. youtu.be/-KQb3Mx2WMwBut the gist of it is that the Teen Brain is growing and getting the neural speed of the adult brain. However the frontal lobe comes last in this process full maturing in the early 20s. The frontal lobe involves the ability to recognize future consequences resulting from current actions, to choose between good and bad actions (or better and best), override and suppress unacceptable social responses, and determine similarities and differences between things or events. When we look back to our teen years we might cringe at how we reacted in situations, but we truly didn't have the mental capacity to handle the reality and only had our hyper-emotional mind to deal with it. This is why a teen can feel like it's the end of the world over petty bullshit. They're don't comprehend what petty bullshit is yet. In short anyone under 20 probably could be consider soulless or a sociopath.

It's so bad it's funny and it's so fucked up its even funnier . . . The art work is soooo crap. The end few panels just make me want to grab the barbed wire and pliers and hunt those twee self righteous bastards down . . . Which means they're right D&D has turned me into a satanic sociopath (and I don't regret it) . . .

Also I would like to say that Drizzt sword is not fire. It's Twinkle. I still have never read these books.

The lads reference this bit of Exalted cover art: Speaking for myself, I'm not offended by lingerie-sorcereress outfits, peekaboo nipples, or LOOK AT MY PUDENDA, YE MIGHTY, AND DESPAIR poses. I just don't want my porn on my gaming table. I like tits; but I don't have titty posters framed on my wall, because I'm a grownup. I'm immediately disinclined to buy any book with a cover like this, because gaming is a social activity, and gaming books are just as much a public display as a t-shirt or a table centerpiece. That's a sort of quiet hypocrisy, I'll admit. But it's one of those common, everyday bits of hypocrisy that lets us mostly get along with each other. I don't want to hear about my aunt's new vibrator at the dinner table, and I don't want to go to game night and pull out a book covered in giant anime titty-monster. It's crass, and it implies I lack taste or discretion.

On a related subject... The Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy, as mentioned in the show, is one of my favorite fantasy works evar. I was really excited to see that Elizabeth Moon was writing sequels to it. And then I see this: This is one of those book covers that I feel compelled to turn face-down when I'm taking it off of the shelf, hiding this romance-novel Fabio bullshit on my way out of the library. (Also, the very first Paksenarrion book, Sheepfarmer's Daughter, is apparently one of Baen's free books. So go read it, if you haven't already.)
