When I run MCB, it is a more street level story. Lower power threshold. When I run Savage Worlds is on par with the Avengers (maybe a little less). With Wild Talents I am looking at something with more grit and flexibility in power structure. I want allow the players to be able to think outside the box when using their powers.

I run a Superhero Police Procedural game for conventions. I use Mutant City Blues: Power by Gumshoe and a modified Savage Worlds: Superhero Companion for the system frame work. Larger conventions I will run the same scenario in both systems. Smaller cons I will give the table the choice.
I am looking at adding Wild Talents 2ed to the mix. I need help in creating characters in the system. I would like to make sure I am creating them right.
All Supers in this setting received their powers from a radiation emitting asteroid. Some folks received smaller powers. Some are getting to Marvel Avengers territory.
PCs for the Game will have 435 points (35 points is for the Background stuff, so 400pts for stats, skills, and powers.)
Thanks, from this old jarhead.

***ATTENTION*** ***UPDATE*** Operation: Sgt Dan’s Blue Hair has been changed to OPERATION: MANICORN With the addition of Mikey Mason and Zach Lorton willing to color their chin grass we have upped the ante to raise money for cancer treatment for Patrick Roper. Here are the details: There are (as of now) 3 separate fundraisers to try and help the Roper family with their expenses not covered by insurance. 1. The GoFundMe page set up by Adam Gottfried. This is the main way anyone can help Pat & Beth. www.gofundme.com/pathascanceranditsucks 2. Zach Lorton is will be running an event at Geek Way to the West, a board game convention in the St. Louis area. He has a GoFundMe page for donating to that. www.gofundme.com/pandemicforpat 3. Derek Knutsen is running the Fear the Charity events at Fear the Con 10. If you are coming to FtC 10 and will be participating in the game that are set up as fund raisers for Pat, please, sign up early and let Derek know at what level and characters you want to use. All the pledged money to Fear the Charity accrued before the deadlines will count towards the funding goals of Mikey, Zach, and me being idiots out of the love we have for Pat and Beth. www.palegainpress.com/ftcxftc.html @ $10k raised: Mikey will have his goatee colored in mermaid colors (?). Zach will do his goatee in purple with gold hightlights. Sgt Dan will color his goatee in royal blue with silver highlights. @ 15K raised: Mikey will glitter his chin whiskers as well as have them colored. Sgt Dan will have the hair on his head match the goatee in royal blue with silver highlights. The deadline for Mikey & Zach is 12:01 AM, June 21, 2017. Mikey will be travelling to St. Louis and will need to color his hair before he gets on the road. Zack is a profession DJ and needs to make sure the temporary color he will use washes out. The deadline for Sgt Dan is 12:01 AM, June 22, 2017. He will be in St. Louis and has talked to Mitch STL about doing the deed. www.mitchstl.com/ Currently, we are sitting at just north of $6.5k for all the fundraisers. Thank all of you that already donated. Please, donate! Even $5.00 will do. Plus, spread the word. The more who know, the more money will be raised.

JiB, I think you're doing INFLUENCE wrong. Two characters can have INFLUENCE over each other (a mutual respect situation). I did not read anywhere about INFLUENCE cancelling or where two characters could not have INFLUENCE over each other. To be honest the way you are running it INFLUENCE among the characters is very limited and can be a hindrance in removing CONDITIONS.

For convention game, a quick questionnaire helps with the players to wrap their heads around the characters. Items may/may not come up in game, but it give them something to go on. Below is the questionnaire for the Mentalist in my Supers-Police Procedural game.
1. What caused you to be homeless? How long were you ‘a bum’? 2. What made you ‘clean up’ and rejoin society? 3. Describe the day you first discovered you were a 'glow'. 4. How were you recruited to the RPD glow squad? Why did you accept? 5. What makes you love and hate the Blaster? (Collaborate)

Prep for my Supers-Police Procedural game. First Case I used.
The City of Raleigh Mayor (who is a secret “Glow”) murdered his assistant in his office. The assistant was sliced in half with no blood at the scene. The mayor and the 3 other “Glows” were part of an artifact and antiquities theft and smuggling ring. The mayor stole his assistant’s identity to launder money. The assistant found out about the dummy accounts in his name and started to use the accounts for his own personal finances. The bad guys were getting ready to steal the sword Confederate General Joseph Johnston surrendered to General Sherman from Bennett Place Historical Site in Durham. The mayor, the day of the murder, had gone to Japan on an economic summit trip with the governor. It was part of his cover to meet with buyers for the sword. The initial suspect was a gang-banger that one of the PCs knew. This was a red-herring. The poor sap was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was caught on cameras around the time & place of the murders. The missing witness was a security guard that did not “see” the murder, but could put the mayor and assistant in the same room at the near the time of death.

If I were playing in this game, this is what my character would be.
Outsider
Real Name: (Unpronounceable in any human language) goes by "Bobby" or is it "Bobbi"
Hero Name : (None as of now)
Look: Shifting gender appreance (He/She looks as the beholder wants him/her to look), Human Body (gun metal blue skin), Silver metallic eyes, Mismatch clothes, no costume (yet)
Abilities: Flight & Toughness (Free). Radical Shapeshifting; Telepathy & Mind Blast
Labels: Danger -1, Freak +2, Savior 0, Superior +2, Mundane 0
Backstory: Where do you come from? A planet that is a part of the Orion Star Assembly. His/Her homeworld (name is unpronounceable) is has a symbiotic relationship with the the planet's natural state and the high technology produced by his/her species.
Why did you come to Earth? Parental units were here as a cultural exchange
Why do you want to stay here (for now at least)? Parental units had to return to homeworld in a hurry (unknown to character there is a coup on the homeworld and parents are a part of the faction in power). They wanted him/her here to learn a new culture (and keep him/her safe). His/her guardian is Mrs. Himmelfarb, widow Jewish grandmother (and government agent).
Why do your people want you to come home? Unknown at this time
Why do you care about the team? 1) They're friendly to him/her. 2) It is a chance to study earthlings up-close.
Relationships:
You’ve been learning about Earth by spending time with Tess. She find fun and interesting things to do.
You have a crush on Zer0 but you keep it under wraps. His positive outlook is infectous, plus the technology on his arm reminds him/her of home.

For the mead lovers and the mead curious. This is a very good meadry(?) Starrlight Mead. They are based out of Pittsboro, NC and does ship to states that allow direct shipping of alcoholic beverages. They are NOT champagne-like and most of their products have a good honey flavor with the infused spices or fruit they flavor the mead with. I recommend the Spiced Apple Mead that is warmed...it tastes like a liquid apple pie...AWESOME!
