If we can draw people back to the forum that would be nice, while I understand the draw of discord I find it frustrating to use as I just can't give it enough attention to keep up with busier channels. Much prefer the pace of forums, though can understand why people are put off posting via mobile. Tapatalk is ok but I have run into plenty of connection issues with it. You and me then. I find Discord to be a mess of messages and channels and no idea of what to do, as every time I log in it shout I have zillions of things I have not participated in. Meh. Same here. Discord to me is one gigantic run on sentence. It seems to be the preferred way for people to communicate but I just don’t get it

I will admit it makes me sad but if it means more people will post on the forums it’s a good thing.

OK. Just starting to listen to this. I am really enjoying the characters and the setting. I just need to remember not to listen to this while eating.

Please feel free to post on this thread if you are participating. mobro.co/ericpiersonThe money goes towards testicular cancer research, prostate cancer research, and men’s mental health research. I will admit I do it for the mental health aspects, due to my own struggles with depression. If you fight against depression you are not alone. I would also like to ask - when was the last time you went for a yearly checkup? Movember tries to promote that too.

You’re weird. All of you.
Then again being primarily a GM for the past several decades I just don’t look at games that way. I am always listening to GMing technique and things like that.
So yeah. You’re probably not weird for a player.

After running my most recent sessions of Masks last night, I realized the Players and I have found our voice in this shared story called an rpg. It’s part Monty Python silly and part pure heartwhenching and it seems to work.
We find ourselves really enjoying Masks and we never would have found it without this podcast. I wanted to thank Hyvemynd for taking me through my first Dungeon World experience and Joe Crak for coming up and running the wrestling game with my friends. While Powered by the Apocalypse didn’t quite click for me as a GM with those games it made me interested in other games like it. I never would have listened to the Monster of the Week And Masks APs if it wasn’t for those first two games.
Adam and JiB, thank you for running the previously mentioned APs. Without the Masks AP we would have never bought the Masks book. I have only enjoyed three APs and that was my favorite. And the Monster of the Week AP has colored what our superhero world is like. Somali Warlords making characters into cold iron versions of wolverine to fight efreet best sums up some of the stuff going on.
So again thank you all.

But Stu, why take issue with a term that has been around as long as Sandbox Games and try to reconfigure it? We have an idea what it means and the term has been around far longer than Open World. (At least I believe so. We were using the term sandbox games around the 80’s to early 90’s to start and Open World I never heard until it was introduced by video games much later.
I believe you are trying to fix something which isn’t broke.

CADAVE mentioned using a dump truck in his sandbox.
When I was growing up and playing in a sandbox I had shovels and pails and other things.
They were plot elements in a sandbox much like a sandbox campaign can have plot hooks.

There are a whole heap of false equivalencies floating around this thread. It's almost as though this episode could be called "No Stew, All Beef." Go on...

For the npc who helps out a party with added muscle but doesn’t involve itself in decisions didn’t someone once comment or write in about a mute knight that travelled with the pcs?

Oh, man. Your game sounds dark as hell. I was thinking of your comment since this weekend I honestly believe the PCs are going to be turned into children so we can see and fight what basically amounts to nightmare clowns. Or what I like to call out of game the love children of Freddy and Pennywise.
