Well, you all finally reached the 3 hour mark! Now people that hate the long podcasts will legitimately have something to gripe about!
I about lost my shit at the "Gaped Crusader" line. And seeing as how I should probably take offense to gay-themed jokes, I just want to say that you guys don't come across as the kind of douchebags that make malicious jokes. Trust me, I've dealt with those kinds of actual D-Bags.
As always, keep up the awesome podcasts!

Wanted to give a heads up that the iTunes version of the show is only half the show. It cuts off at one hour and 48 minutes, right in the middle of Tappy's explanation of his gay comments.

I downloaded from iTunes and didn't have any problem. I did download it yesterday, though, so many something happened.

Oh yeah, my $.02 on system for noobs.
for the GM: Savage Worlds - deluxe. pdf $20 for the PCs: Savage Worlds: Test Drive. pdf = $0 (just for tables and such - print out the last 6 pages for them)
helpful hints/support for my decision. 1) p18 -19 Archetypes. I good sized list of 'classic' stereotypes. Along with 'choose 1 major and 2 minor hindrances' - this will let them ** pick the type of character they want, ** flavor them in fun ways with the hindrances. 2) huge supply of pre-published modules and one-sheets, additionally, a lot of the sourcebooks have adventure generators. This vast supply of material will allow them to jump settings at will without having to learn a new system. Besides, new players want to 'be Awesome!" I think the (generally) pulp feel of Savage Worlds helps with this. 3) as to the 'exploding dice' thing. GM (during / at beginning of 2nd or 3rd session): "Oh, guess what guys, I just saw in the rulebook where the bad guys dice can explode too. Whoops, I've been doing that wrong, oh well." or, just only let wild cards get exploding dice for a session or two. then deliver the "whoops" statement. 4) It gives them a chance to roll all sorts of funny shaped dice.
While I don't disagree with the D&D suggestion, I just wanted to highlight some Savage facts.
Also if you want fantasy with your Savage Worlds, Reality Blurs has a line of modules. "Old School Fantasy". The first one is called "A keg for a Dragon" and it was a good time. A nice little mystery with plenty of action.
Oh yeah, the GM could find some actual play of the system they're going to run and listen a bit. It's often a good way to pick up the rules and flow of the game. (warning: not all podcasters get the rules right, try to listen to the later stages of a system the group has played a lot).

Stork brought up the Rocket Nazis on the Orient Express module, it's the intro adventure for the Daring Tales of Adventure setting from Tripple Ace Games. It's not for FATE, it's for Savage Worlds.
And I have to say, it's f'ing awesome for a new DM.
I DM'ed it for experienced gamers but none of us had ever played Savage Worlds before. We'd just come off a very long 3e/3.5e/4e D&D stint when we did that and had a blast.

On the subject of players who occasionally miss games...
In my old group we would sometimes have "Proxy Players" where the character sheet would be given to another (trusted) player and only come into play during combat. The character would get sightly less exp basted on participating in the combat and skill challenges, etc. Some people leveled a little bit before other people but mostly we were okay.
In another case, we had a player who was on hiatus from the game come back. So the DM had him write up what he was doing in the meantime and then ran him through a solo session that brought him to meeting up with the party.
So, I agree with Tyler. That "just leave him behind" guy is entitled to his opinion, and you should thank him for his input before totally ignoring it.
PS - There is a city in Oklahoma. But just one, and it's called "Oklahoma City".
PPS - I finished Myst. I'm not going to say how long it took me.

I did something incredibly stupid when I originally uploaded this episode (I uploaded it to a backup of the site, not the site itself).
It took me a day and a half to realize what I'd done.
In that time, I deleted the wordpress post and reposted a couple times, I re-uploaded the file twice and even tried converting it to a different bitrate.
You might try a "hard reload" on your browser. It's usually control-f5 or shift-f5. You likely have one of several previous instances of the post in your brower cache.

Oklahoma has two real cities, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. OKC is actually bigger geographically then the LA metro but has about a tenth of the population.
Really the worst part of the state though is that they can't sell cold beer about an alcohol level of 3.5. You can buy room temperature beer of higher levels at liquor stores, but many breweries simply skip the state as a result of the restrictions. Limiting the beer we get here and meaning most of what we do get is more like water.
