www.kickstarter.com/projects/evilhat/fate-core?ref=liveI am about a day slow in posting this, apparently. As it's already 1000% funded. from 985 backers. Already hit their 6th stretch goal. Oh, when you back it, you get to download the draft of the rules RIGHT THEN! Evil Hat knows what's up folks. I have typed and then deleted a lot of words here, because I'm really excited about this, and I really like how they're running it. Take a moment to read the description, it's pretty awesome. And their stretch goals are looking pretty amazing as well.

I saw the preview of this a few days ago, and am glad to finally be able to donate to it! I wish I had kept a close eye on it so that I might have gotten some glow-in-the-dark dice...

I was a little late on this one too, so I missed out in some premium goodies.
Protip: Kickstarter projects start on midnight of their opening day. At least now I know, and knowing is half the battle...

304 pages total. I haven't been through the whole thing yet though, so I'm not sure how much of those are waiting for artwork.

That's a lot of dead virtual trees.

I got a friend to back it for me as I don't have a credit card. Kickstarter really needs to accept PayPal as a default.
Stu, I'm surprised you didn't jump on this one, seeing as how they followed your rule of "have the shit done and ready to go when the KS closes". They actually did one better, giving out PDFs of the book as soon as you backed it. That's pretty nice.

Hill Folk did the same thing. (Giving out the pdf as soon as you backed it.)

Yeah. tremulus did/is doing something similar. They handed out a PDF version fairly soon after the KS closed. Though in that case it was more of a beta test rather than a finished version, as they keep putting out revisions every few weeks or so.

they've said that's sort of the plan with FATE core. Thus the intentionally long KS. They're hoping people get the rules and play, then send in any typos or things that need more description/fleshing out/explanation.

Since we are correcting things ... I said on the cast that Gina backed the Dungeon World kickstarter and six weeks after it closed she had the product. To be precise she had the pdf version (which is snapping pretty by the way) the print version is to my understanding currently at the printer. I do not know when she will receive it, but expect that it will be in a timely fashion.

I backed this one. Spirit of the Century is a great book.
FATE is a system I haven't played enough to love.
But I would love to play more.

Yep, not that they need it but they're getting some of my money too.

After all the discussion here about Burning Wheel, which reflected my own thoughts I think, I'm moving our Mouse Guard game over to FATE next year. The players are at a point where they have a well-formed opinion of the Mouse Guard system (mildly like it, or "meh") and are open to other "crunchy-story-driven" games (lucky me).

Here is an excerpt from John Rogers' (Leverage creator/writer) blog regarding his Crimeword supplement to FATE core. "Fred's asked us to make as much of our design process visible as possible, so this is the first in a series of posts about the book. If you check over to the right, the tag "CrimeWorld" will lead you to the other posts. I hope that, much like I've spent the last few years laying out the process of television for you folks, those of you who are interested will get to see how this sort of game and writing supplement come together."
I think this sounds really neat. While I'm not as into heists as I am say "WWI meats Battlestar Galactica" (the second stretch goal, which is way in the rearview now). I have to say, I've added Rogers' blog to my reader and I'll be following it. kfmonkey.blogspot.com/
