SQUEEEE. Thank you, creativecowboy. Good news! You're very welcome. And may I take this opportunity to say how much I enjoyed my visit to your site? Because I did enjoy it, and thank you for the work on it. And from what I have heard about how you handle new players, similar to Stu, I also tip my hat.

Spending a little time blowing the cobwebs out of there is often on the To Do list.

I would care, except that I still have all my original D&D books from 29 years ago! I knew they'd come in handy one day! Result!

new slave lords module? ?? Hi eric, Yes, the original module was suggested for level 4+ (whereas the Super module suggests itself suitable for players over the level of 7 if I recall correctly). So the new module is to bring characters from level 1 to 4 - just at the right spot for A1. The new module is labelled A0. And now I know what is on my birthday wish list list though, I know I will not get a chance to play it so it goes down the list of priorities.

But T1-4 preceded The Slavers Super Module? taking PC's from level 1 to 8, Slavers then boosts levels in preparation for going against The Giants and the Descent into the Depths? Loads of people criticise T1-4 but if you put the work in it's a blast . . . unlike a lot of modules it shouldn't be run 'off the shelf'. The DM has to really know Hommlet and make it his/her own and keep a track of the different factions as the PC's mow thru them. My current campaign is T1-4 and I've already had to restock the moathouse once and respond appropriately to the PC's interference . . . those sneaky traders Aaron

In fact. that little hamlet is the inspiration for my current game set in 517- 63 years before the events leading to T1. The politics in my game will lay the table, so to speak, for what will be the Elven reaction to Verbobonc's ToEE.

The politics in my game will lay the table, so to speak, for what will be the Elven reaction to Verbobonc's ToEE. Mine is classic 579CY the players now know of Iuz rattling his sabres to the north, hints at Lolth and the drow (I've explained that drow at this point are the subject of myth and thought extinct) and, by a logical extension rather than a rewrite, their confrontation with 'that monk' and 'his hulking offsider' (to avoid spoilers) has presented them with the first mention of the incursion of the mysterious 'Scarlet Brotherhood'. They are also gaining an insight into 'The Great Kingdom' and 'Ivid the mad' through one of the PC's having been born there but sent away at the age of 5 to study with the Druids (good old fashioned 1e bard not the castrated 2e compromise) - he's asked about his family so I've detailed it and it'll link in rather shockingly later (hopefully he survives til the big reveal). That's what I love about T1-4 it can be woven like a fabric to suit your campaign and players/PC's. Plus we already have a blood debt because of the slaying of one of two Dwarven brothers by agents of the Temple - the avenging player has already decided if he dies his next character will also be of Clan IronHammer sent to settle a matter of honour (their father having fought at Emridy Meadows has taken the death of one of his own as rightly personal and charged all his family to seek active retribution) All up jolly good fun - the story they are creating is the reward not the xp or bonuses for levelling up and that's a refreshing change for a group that has never played 1e before. They're enjoying it do much that they're all committed to buying the core book reprints (one players fiance has already furnished him with all the books 2nd hand through eBay) Aaron PS: also an object lesson in letting the players backgrounds drive their motivation - no railroading, no tracks, just good old fashioned RP driving them towards the Temple because they are choosing to go there for personal reasons. I've thrown a ton of potential side treks with divergent plot hooks at them for them to pursue if they choose but they remain resolute.
